I chose this book because when I was browsing the internet looking for good books to read, this one caught my eye. The biggest reason that this book caught my eye was because it was the first book in a series called "The Agency." I love getting into book series because once I start I can't stop and it can be fun. The author is Y. S. Lee and she has written 3 other books which are all part of The Agency series. Here is a link to here web site. http://yslee.com/

The opening lines drop the reader in a state of confusion and mystery. It opens by putting the main character (mary) in a not so sanitary courtroom where she is being read her rights and sentenced to hang by her neck until dead. "She should of been listening to the judge. Instead mary was focused on the flies swarming around her ankles in the prisoner's dock and their primary interest: the pool of stale urine at her feet. " This line was the very first line in the prologue and provocted me to keep reading.

So far in my book nothing interesting has happened up until this point. My book is about a girl who grew up in a terrible society where her dad died and her mom has problems. It came to the point where she had to steal from other people just to survive. When she was caught she was tried in court and sentenced to death but a woman saved her and brought her to a secret school known as the agency. The agency not only dedicated to educating girls but it also is a spy organization. She has just started training to be a spy so she was sent off to a place where she would supposedly be trained to be a spy. It turned out to be a house of a very rich and wealthy family and they happened to be having a party the day that she arrived. While the party was happening she decided to have a little fun and see what she could fine in the host's office. She couldn't find anything because someone was coming and she needed to find a place to hide. Luckily there was a wardrobe that was unlocked and she buried herself in the clossite. While she was in there she met by a boy who happened to have the same goal as her: to see if he could find something. This is important because it introduces a new character and I have a feeling that this character will be playing an important role later in the book.

Simile: "His hangover was visible. It heaved it self on to his shoulders and sat there like a bag of wet cement." this is taking place around begging of the book when Mary is in training to be an agent and her "trainers" are throwing a party. At the party they all have a good time and some people have a little too much to drink. Including the host. So the next day Mary is remarking on how obvious he looks and also how bad he looks with the hang over.

This is meaningful to me because I think that it goes a lot along with the phrase "Be careful for what you wish for" it woke me up in a way wile reading the book and grabbed my attention while reading. It also marked the beginning of the climax.

An important plot event my book was when Mary first met her future love. It was anti-climatic and the way that they met. They met in a closet where they were both trying to achieve the same goal of pick pocketing the house of this rich person's house who was throwing a party. While the party was going on she snuck into the wardrobe and started looking for things that may be available. What she ended up finding was another man and just then they were forced to hide together when someone walked in. When the person left they were left alone. Because of this experience they were left hating each other. But that eventually turned into love which expressed the theme.

“He laughed, then became serious once more. "Mary............"
The expression in his eyes set her heart pounding. "Yes?"
Twice he began to frame a sentence, and twice his voice seemed to fail him.
And she thought she understood. What could he possibly say to her now, when he was on the verge of leaving forever? Even something as simple as asking her to write to him carried a distinct sort of promis, the type of promise he was ten years and a half a world removed from being able to make.
She forced a polite smile and held out her hand. "Good luck, James."
Regret-and relief-flooded his eyes. he took her hand, cradling it for a long moment. "And to you."
It was foolish to linger. She slid her fingers from his grasp, turned, and began to walk away in the direction of the Academy. She'd gone about thirty paces when she heard his voice.
"Mary!"
She spun about. "What is it?"
"Stay out of wardrobes!"
She laughed, shook her head, and began to walk again. She was smiling this time.”

This is a "sappy" part of the book towards the end where the two love birds are parting ways and wishing each other good luck. Although they keep the process cool the sadness in both of their minds are obvious.
