While many on the left and some on the right call the capitol riot an act of domestic terrorism, many on the far right deem it differently, and some even believe it justified. At the recent capitol riots, people were raiding because they did not like the president. Talmud tells us to not laugh at ‘a great man’ to preserve their dignity which overrides a negative law. Treating others with respect and dignity is as important as treating God with respect and dignity. The people raiding the capitol and participating in domestic terrorism are not treating all other people with respect and dignity.

The raiders at the recent capitol riots were mistreating many people including people they don’t know and ‘strangers’.

“The nations of the ancient world would only love their own people, and they would defraud other peoples because they saw them as despicable foreigners. Therefore, it says here, that you need to love him like yourself, and act toward him just as you would want.” (Shada 3 on Leviticus 19:34)

Even though the two sides that are fighting are from the same nation, they are still despicable to each other. They should all treat each other equally. Just like the unit, In the Image Of God, we were all made in the image of God and should be treated equally.

The capital riots were American people fighting each other. The topic of polarization with two different groups doesn’t practice Tikkun Olam. They know more about the topic of politics than I do which should add to their obligation of Tikkun Olam. They should stay in peace as one of the sides of the argument rather have.

Modern commentaries say that one should help others in need and attend to their issues.
