During the 1960s, the Civil Rights Movement was created and it help shape the world for the better. This movement occurred due to the unfair treatment that non-Caucasian races mainly to the African Americans. Ever since slavery ended nearly a hundred years ago from this time, African Americans had unequal treatment as opposed to the Caucasian. They had to live in completely different societies in which the African-Americans had the less sufficient society with things that were old and dirty. This segregation was due to what was know as the Jim Crow laws. These Jim Crow laws not only separated African African-Americans from living with and like the Caucasians but, it also prevent them from living life to the fullest.

Based off what I already know, my grandma migrate from Virginia to Philadelphia. Virginia is southern states and was once a part of the Confederate States of America. A battle between the Confederate, southern states, and the Union, northern states, occurred about a hundred years before this movement to determine the fate of African-Americans called the Civil War. The Union won the war however, the southern states manage to find ways to treat people of African-American or any non-Caucasian descent. Since Virginia was one of Confederate States, I would assume that she left because of the discrimination in the South.
