According to the Mental health Foundation(2016), " Evidence has shown that most mental health problems start in childhood or adolescence." This means that with this proof, actions are needed to be taken place to reduces this and prevent mental health issues starting in childhood.
A key study found out that the average anxiety disorders started at the age of 11, as well as impulse-conteol disorders was age 11 too.

Childhood is between age 11 and 19, this is when the child is preparing for early adulthood therefore they are experiencing many life changes which can have an affcet on their mental health. For example: changing schools, chnages in friendships, going through puberty, pressure form exams such as GCSE which can cause a lot of stress, transitioning into work or univerty and many more.

Mental health also has an impact on an individuals physical health as well, such as depression can also increase the risk of developing physical illnesses such as a stroke, diabetes or heart disease. According to Pozuelo.L(2019) "Up to 15 percent of patients with cardiovascular disease and up to 20 percent of patients who have undergone coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery experience major depression."

Research has proved that stress that is hels in can lead to high blood pressure and arterial damage which can lead to more serious chronic conditions such as heart disease. Those who already have a heart disease and devleop depression can lead to heart attacks and blood clots which shows the urgancy to treat depression and to recognise signs and behaviours in order to treat it early on.

This can also be the reverse so that chronic physical conditions can increase the risk of mental health illnesses, this is because they may not understand what is goign on, their medication could be having an affect on them or they are not getting enough support form family and friends to help cope wth their emotions.

Mental health illnesses rise a risk to suicide attempts and self harming, depression is a menatal illness that strongly increase the risk. In an investigation about the relation between depression and suicide, there was 1051 participants and out of these 364 reported that they have experienced depression at some point in their life time, 48% of the individuals reported suicide thoughts and 16% of these attempted suicide according to Bradvik.L(2018).

This shows how important mental health is because it can result in the end of an individuals life if they are unable to recieve help, they are too fearful to ask for help or their treatment is not suitable for them. This means that the promotion of identifying those who are suffering is needed and encouragining those to recieve support from professionals but also those close to them.

The Health And Social Care Act 2012 changed the planning, delivery and monitoring or services in England, CCG’s are NHS organisations set up to arrange this and are required to involve service users and health care professionals in deciding what service are needed in different local areas. There were three legal duties set up about health inequalities: duty to arrange, promote competition and integrate services.

The Health And Social Care Act 2012 also established that Public Health England will be responsible for local services instead of the NHS. It also established Healthwatch England to provide information and advice to those who will plan, deliver and monitor services.

Health and Wellbeing Boards have to enabel different organisations to work together to plan and deliver local services. This means that in relation to mental health, according to the statistics in each local area, they can deliever services by mental health organistations working with the communities and local councils to offer activities and events to help raise awarness and support for those struggling.

This policy is within relation to the No Health Without Mental Health Policy 2011, it "aims to bridge the gap between our long-term ambition and shorter-term action," (Social care,2014) as well as showing the difference to those with mental illnesses who access local services now that they have chnaged their planning and delivering of their services.

One chnage from this policy is that in each community there must be health and social acre services avaiable locally for all individuals living in that local area as well as it being a high quality service that is also safe. Evidence is also needed to be gathered in order to locate where mental health is worse so that they can provide evidence to allow commissioning in order to go into depth about those who have a mental health problem and what the differences are withing their age or background.

Thos policy also pushes mental health to be equally as importnant as physical health so that the waiting time is not as long beause the longer the wait to recieve help, the worse the condition will get and the longer the tretament is required. This policy also looks at overcoming the step for ceratin groups of individuals such as those age 65 and over to reach out for help when they need it. This is done through promoting recieving help and understanding why they are less likely to ask for help.
