Nowadays, the demand for plastics increases and as the demand for plastic also increases, the environment continues to degrade due to the excessive amount of plastic wastes that cannot be broken down and therefore it leaves a pile of non-biodegradable wastes. Because of this, I was inspired to think of a solution to lessen these wastes, which is to create a bioplastic container using cassava starch as a main component.

Cassava Starch is a common plant in the Philippines. It is a long, tuberous, and starchy root of dark green color and

rough texture. The starch is composed of two polymers in certain percentages— 75-80% amylopectin, 20-25% amylose.

www.cassava-recipes-common-among-uganda-foods-21774947.jpg

The bioplastic container will be made from renewable organic matter and degrade at a faster rate as compared to non-biodegradable plastics. The container will not produce an excessive amount of carbon dioxide when broken down. As products, they are indispensable since they minimize the non-biodegradable wastes formed from traditional plastics, thus promoting environmental sustainability and stability.
