Not only can cave art be used to figure out what types of animals early humans hunted, it can also be used to understand the tools used to hunt. Early humans used bow-and arrows to hunt animals, such as bison and deer. They also used spears made of wood and sharpened stone. Archaeologists have also found evidence of spear-throwers, which helped early humans throw spears further and with more power.

At Lascaux Caves in France, archaeologists have discovered paintings that show detailed drawings of bison and deer. There is also evidence of clay figurines depicting bison.
