A tier 1 intervention that could be used in order to address this population, and their needs could be an assembly. An assembly that addresses the whole school. The assembly could be an anti-bully assembly. If we spread information regarding bullying and harassment of the LGBT populations, I think that is intervening at tier 1 level.
In order to track the progress after the assembly, there could be assemblies every semester in order to assure that people are paying attention.

Tier 3 intervention could be one-on-one counseling sessions with students who are being harassed, or may just need someone to talk to. This type of intervention is necessary for the LGBT population because not every person may be going through the same problem, and may need to be addressed differently.
In the one-on-one sessions setting goals for the students, and them working to reach their goals could be a way to track their progress

Monique A Johnson-Feedback
Hi Jasmine,
I really enjoyed your padlet. I believe that you provided clear information as it pertains the issues. I think that it would have been awesome if you would have expounded a little more as it pertains to the different genders in the LGBTQ community. I agree with you, that school is where children spend most of their day and difference among peers always causes struggles.
1. My idea of a Tier I intervention is as you said an assembly, to include the entire school. I believe that it would help if children who face struggles engage in role play as it may be a little more effective.
2. Tier II intervention would be on lines of what you said. I would ask permission first, I would then almost have a little focus group for the LGBTQ students so that they are free to discuss what is going on with them in a safe environment. I would call it "Love, Greantness, and Beatiful Talk session"
3. No, I do not believe that schools are doing enough, however schools can not be held accountable for everything that takes place. Inclusion is necessary, but its hard to get those on board who may not agree because of religion, etc.
4. This population has feelings, and they are human. No matter what the belief system is, as a social worker, it would be my ethical duty to care for the entire population. Being a minority is a challenge but those barriers can be broken with time and care.
5. A very good question. I believe that I would chose tier I. Mainly because the majority of the issues are with people who do not understand and chose to bully.
