Today was all about enjoyment and the key competences. As a math teacher, I focused on the things that can be used for mathematical assignments.

You can think of different shells in which a golden ratio can be seen, the routes and distances we sail combined with speed and the cabin where you can make various calculations with calculations and the Pythagoras theorem.

In this environment it is therefore possible to come up with assignments for different levels. I have gained inspiration for the next school exam.

Just blows the roof when you see such beauty! Itis impossible to get such kind of experience in any classroom while inside it.

... today was a day of key competences. and one of the most biggest competences is a necessary knowlege how to be able to identify opportunities our personal and professional activities. How to include "bigger pictures" that provide the context in wich people live and work. Also how to be a good force through simple social entertaitment. This is a Sense of initiative...

Today we were in another beautiful classroom and I learned a lot about applying key competences.

Today we were expected to take a good look at what activities you can do with a group of students in view of the key competences.

I got a lot of ideas for my competence, learning another language.

What did I learn today: Today was a combination of learning and having fun. Rita has given a lot of information about nature, the origin of the lagoons and the influence of global warming in this area. I enjoyed the day and gained enough information and inspiration to prepare the assignment.

Today we had another lesson in one of the most beautiful classrooms there is. We went to the mangrove. In the mangrove under the water it is bizarre what lives there. You see a whole different world. I didn't know how the mangrove grew, for example with the floating branches and the male and female flower.

We also visited L'îlet caret. That usber nature reserve and consists of about 15000 ha. I didn't know it was that big. Its white sand consists of dead coral from the coral reef about 100 meters away. There was also a shipwreck from 1989 which was beautiful and impressive to look at.

Today we focussed on the different key compentences making the curriculum. I choose the digital conpentence and thought about how I can integrate it with a topic like climate change on Ilet Caret. Students might use the app Chatter Pix to let photos talk about the climate change happing on the island we visit. For example a coral, a sea pickle, a tree or a stone. This talking pictures can be part of a powerpoint presentation. By making this students wil learn digital competences and about climate change at the same time.

Today I‘ve learned a lot about nature: That everything has to be in balance at that even a small intervention can make the system struggle.
I did not know that the mangroves absorb more CO2 than the Amazonas rainforest and I wonder why we are not talking about that at all. And I am worried about all the peopel that are snorkelling around Île Caret and spend time on this little island. The boats, they come with, must disturb the nature extremely and you can even see the humans pollution with all the plastic under the water, what makes me really sad.

The day out in the mangroves today even made me more aware of, how precious and sensitive our environment is.
It is not OUR earth, it was lent to us for future generations and we have the duty and responibility to teach our pupils how important it is to preserve it.
If nature is in balance, it is just perfectly adapted to its surrounding.
On the one hand it is important to show tourists/ teacher as us etc. the fragility of these places in order to pay more attention on it but on the other hand, we disturb everything there by acting as visitors with motors, music,anchors, suntan lotion etc. It is a dilemma.
Maybe it would be a good idea to use motors with electricity and remind everyone even more to take care of this place to keep it at least the way it is now.

Today I learned about the intricate ecosystem of the Caribbean mangroves. I learned that the mangroves give shelter to all kinds of animals and in that way creates its own little ecosystem. It is the base of life in the coral reef, a breeding ground for all marine life. I learned about the life cycle of the mangrove tree. Which was very interesting. It protects against waves and strong currents. Around the island we have been I think they should plant mangroves trees to protect the island from disappearing. Today proves yet again that anyplace can be a classroom.

Today was the best day of the course. I learned a lot about the eco system and that the locals used tires to rebuild the reefs that were destroyed by the hurricanes. The hurricanes that destroyed it was exceptionally strong that year, but the last decade it's becoming normal. I also learned that mangroves are more important for oxygen than the rain forrests.
