I think that it was over all upsetting that the Franks, Van Daans, and Mr. Dussel, and how they were all taken by the Nazis. What makes it even more displeasing is that they had survived for so long, and so close to liberation, all to be captured, and all the while half of the more nervous characters (Mr. Van Daan and Mr. Dussel) were blaming everyone else or outside sources for most of the problems throughout the story.
