The law was mainly based on it, the ten commandments.          <description><![CDATA[<div>I know that religion and the church intertwined deeply with the people of the time and the way they lived their lives.<br><br>I know that law and religion were much more related than in modern times resulting in death/imprisonment for many.<br><br>People feared God immensely to the point of superstition. Flagellation was even practiced as a way penance to God.</div><div><br>If you had a child outside of marriage or did something that went against the core beliefs of the religion, you would often be shunned by society or in some cases imprisoned.</div><div><br>Rather than a democratic government having the most power, the church and in particular the leaders of the church would play a large part in power plays for their country.<br><br>The majority of people were Christians and the idea of religious diversity was largely forgotten and discouraged.</div>]]></description>

Many christian rulers were corrupt and often abused their power. Most art from around that time was christian work for showing those who couldn't read.&nbsp;<br><br>People believed that everything that happened was the will of God. This was important when the black plague came. People blamed others for angering God, who they believed sent the plague.</div>]]></description>
