I never realized how representation truly impacted how I viewed myself and my culture until high school when I started to embrace it. I used to be embarrassed of my last name and the typical Vietnamese food I would eat, especially because I went to predominantly white schools growing up. I never felt like I could fit in. 
Now going to UC Irvine, I feel a lot more comfortable with myself and I have a lot more things in common with my friends from here. I have also learned to embrace my culture more and be more in touch with my Vietnamese roots. My values in life fall in line with PP as I believe that every woman should have access to the healthcare services that PP provides us. Many people view Planned Parenthood as a place that only does abortions which is false and misleading. Planned Parenthood does a variety of services including STD testing, prepartum care, pregnancy services such as ultrasound, and postpartum care at an affordable rate. My parents decided to breed maltese puppies and give them away to good homes and so I grew up around dogs my whole life. Today, I still have that maltese puppy I was surprised with named Mindy. Along with Mindy, I have her daughter Latte living at my house as well.
