Dissect eggs. Tell students that baby birds come from eggs, but the eggs we have today are unfertilized, so there will not be any baby birds. Teacher can first crack open a raw egg to show the egg. Point out the shell, membrane of shell, white, and yolk. Pass out hard boiled eggs (use hard boiled eggs to avoid chance of salmonella), magnifying glasses, and plastic knives to students. Students can use the magnifying glasses to study the pores of the egg and then break open their eggs and use plastic knives for children to dissect their own eggs. Children can eat hard boiled egg for snack afterwards.
