Dementia people needs more help than other’s people because impaired ability to remember, think, or make decisions that interferes with doing everyday activities. Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia. Though dementia mostly affects older adults, it is not a part of normal aging. What are the signs and symptoms of dementia?

Because dementia is a general term, its symptoms can vary widely from person to person. People with dementia have problems with:

Memory
Attention
Communication
Reasoning, judgment, and problem solving
Visual perception beyond typical age-related changes in vision

Signs that may point to dementia include:

Getting lost in a familiar neighborhood
Using unusual words to refer to familiar objects
Forgetting the name of a close family member or friend
Forgetting old memories
Not being able to complete tasks independently

What increases the risk for dementia?

Age
The strongest known risk factor for dementia is increasing age, with most cases affecting those of 65 years and older
Family history
Those who have parents or siblings with dementia are more likely to develop dementia themselves.

Living at home with a patient with dementia will have to consider the safety measures and danger that might need to be considered. They need to consider thee choice of the person, their behaviour and ensure that the person needs are being followed up. For example the person appointment, which can be easily forgotten by a person with dementia. They might be at risk when left out in the public. If the family want the dementia person to stay home, they need to be assisted 24hrs one to one which is a package of care. The patient need to be taken out for activities, meaning taking them for a walk to the park or garden centre. Sometimes if the family are going on holiday they take the patient for restby for a sort time. It’s hard as they still have to assist them with personal care, feeding and assist them with their medication and go for appointments.

I will advise my friend to consider these factors if suitable for him.
Check the health and safety of the patient .
2.how secured is the patient . Is the environment suitable for the person
3. There will be a new skills or routine. Can you cope with that.
4. You have to be careful and understand the consequences for the situation or actions.
Can you risk /sedule your time to cater for the person.
If none of the above is possible then try and find a specialist to care for the patient

Depending of the tipe and the stage of the dementia, but according to my experience and recent researches, people with initial phase feeling better at home with their close relatives. They are feeling secure and loved. When the dementia progress my advise is to find nice care home ,because they will start to need more professional help and special equepment.

1.Set up a place that can make them happy and independent.
2.Find out things they love most and familiar with from close relatives or friends.Then create an environment that will help them reflect or flash back on the past.
3.Always be with them so you can access them at anytime and also govern them from potential hazards.

the family membes sit and discuss the suitation including the social worker and the Gp how they help this person, the social worker will fine out welfare, after that when the family make a decision what to stay home they will look for carer and arrange care facilities for the person.

I think people with dementia should stay at home if they have a family member to look after them 24/7 . Keep them home where they are familiar with the environment and people Plus where it is clean and safe for them . Personal hygiene taken care off.Have a routine in place. As a support worker who work in a care home with people who suffer with dementia I think it’s can be quite difficult for family to take good care with person with dementia specially if their have no experience.
