The giant panda has an insatiable appetite for bamboo. A typical animal eats half the day—a full 12 out of every 24 hours—and relieves itself dozens of times a day. It takes 28 pounds of bamboo to satisfy a giant panda's daily dietary needs, and it hungrily plucks the stalks with elongated wrist bones that function rather like thumbs. Pandas will sometimes eat birds or rodents as well.

Observationally, Amur Leopards have a beautiful long winter coat with black stripes on top of their reddish-brown fur. Interestingly, their coat's colour changes from time to time every season. It becomes a light brown in the cooler months, where as in the warmer months the leopards fur becomes reddish again but with a hint of yellow. They have big blue or brown eyes and pointy, soft ears. Obviously they have four legs and a long, magnificent tail that finishes in a pitch black shade.

Physically seeing the life cycle of the Amur Leopard, once the mother is pregnant after breeding season, the father leaves, or in some cases, vice versa. Finally, the mother leopard gives birth to 1 - 2 cubs after a gestation time of 90 - 105 days. When the cubs are at the age of 1 1/2 or 2 years old, the mother leaves so the cubs can grow independently. During this period of time, the cubs learn to build their life and to prey on Roe, Musk, Sika Deer, Hares and Badgers.

Living their lives enclosed between the dangers killing them, Amur Leopard's live in the isolated Region of Southeast Russia and the Jilin Province of Northeast China. Their biomes are in the temperate forests and snow forests in mountains with lots of fresh water. The Amur Leopard migrates only within its biome, but not inter-state nor internationally.

Disappearing everyday, the Amur Leopard is now Critically Endangered (CR). The Amur Leopard became endangered starting at 1994, when they were Vulnerable (V), going on to 1996, the amazing animal became CR to its position it currently is in. The complication between humans putting these animals in captivity, loss of habitat due to deforestation, loss of prey during hunting and poachers killing for them for the Amur Leopard's beautiful fur for clothing and heads as trophies, in result this left less than 50 adult Amur Leopards alive in the wild.

Amur Leopards have topped their food chain. They interact with some other wildlife to be cautious of migrating predators. The leopard's ecosystem helps provide all of their daily needs such as food, water, shelter and any other significant tools to create these things in order to survive.

Orangutans live entirely in trees. The reason why orangutans are endangered can be summed up with two words: habitat loss.

Pressure to destroy mature forests and orangutans comes from multiple sources. The demise of an orangutan population often begins with building a road through pristine forest. A new road brings in entrepreneurs and settlers keen to exploit the tropical forest and clear land.

The name orangutan means "man of the forest" in the Malay language. In the lowland forests in which they reside, orangutans live solitary existences. They feast on wild fruits like lychees, mangosteens, and figs, and slurp water from holes in trees. They make nests in trees of vegetation to sleep at night and rest during the day. Adult male orangutans can weigh up to 200 pounds. Flanged males have prominent cheek pads called flanges and a throat sac used to make loud verbalizations called long calls. An unflanged male looks like an adult female. In a biological phenomenon unique among primates, an unflanged male can change to a flanged male for reasons that are not yet fully understood.

Threats to the orangutan

The destruction and degradation of the tropical rain forest, particularly lowland forest, in Borneo and Sumatra is the main reason orangutans are threatened with extinction. This has been caused primarily by human activity (intense legal logging, illegal logging, conversion of forest to palm oil plantations and timber estates, mining, clearing forest for settlements, and road construction) and also by large-scale fires facilitated by the El Nino weather phenomena. Additionally, the illegal animal trade has been a factor in the decline of wild orangutan populations. Finally, orangutans are occasionally hunted and eaten by some of the indigenous peoples of Borneo as well as migrant loggers and plantation workers who do not have dietary prohibitions against eating primate bushmeat. Currently, the IUNC has classified the Bornean orangutan as Endangered and the Sumatran orangutan as Critically Endangered.

A bit introduction about Orangutan.

Orangutan are in the same family as gorillas and monkeys. They are great apes native to the rainforests of Indonesia and Malaysia. They are now found only in parts of Borneo and Sumatra. There are 3 species of Orangutan which is The Bornean, the Sumatran and the Tapanuli. Although they might look fairly similar with their fluffy ginger fur, Bornean orangutans have darker red coats and rounder faces than their Sumatran cousins. But they do have some similarities, adult males have a beard and moustache and adult female Sumatran orangutans also have beards.

Why is it endangered

The world wildlife fund estimate that there were 230 000 orangutan in the wild a century ago . Today the number has shrunk more than a half. They have lost 97 percent of their habitat since 1903 because of destruction and degradation of the tropical rain forest, particularly lowland forest. The illegal animal trade make the situation worsen.

What can we do to prevent the extinction of Orangutan

There are many ways we can do to prevent Orangutan from extinction. We can support the charity organization that protecting Orangutan by join their program such as adoption (sponsoring) and donation. We can also join a volunteering work to help their survival and care for injured and orphaned orangutans that have been rescued from hunting or captivity. Telling our friends and family, educate them about the threats faced by orangutans can make a real impact too. Like people say the power of words!

Facts about Orangutan

Orangutans are the heaviest tree-dwelling animal who spend most of their lives swinging through the canopies and need vast stretches of forest to find enough food and mates. Studies found that Orangutan are smarter than monkeys. The Young ones's stay with their mother until they reach around 7 years old and spend this time learning everything until they develop their own skills to survive on their own.

(～￣▽￣)～thank you for reading this.
p/s : Even if develop my own skill, I want to stay with my mum forever. :P
