Also, when people use the term, they are making themselves see different in a better or worse way. John A. Powell and Stephen Menendian does a great job of explaining the significance and what the purpose of the phrase serves in a community. The nature of people is to favor themselves over others because it is considered the right thing to do, but morally it is not because everyone should be treated or viewed equally.
