On Monday morning, Sergeant Foster went to Roger's office and asked some questions. Inspector Walsh, from his office he called Peter Hobbs and Tom Briggs. At three o'clock the two detectives drove to the Clarkson's house. Inspector Walsh called everyone into the sitting room and looked at them one by one. He told them in a summarized way the statements of each one and came to a conclusion, Peter Hobbs and Tom Briggs hated Molly but they didn't kill her, Diane also wanted to kill her mother because she killed her husband for money. Roger, he just wanted her money. Jackie was the murderer of Molly, she confirmed it when she mentioned that she was not the guilty one, that Diane was because they found the pill tablets in her bag, it was impossible for Jackie to know this because the detectives only said that the tablets were in Diane's room. Jackie killed her mother because she secretly hated her for not letting her be happy with her love the gardener, Tom Briggs. In the end, the detectives take Jackie away in the police car.

The next day in the morning, around seven o'clock, Roger heard a cry from Molly's room, it was Diane. When he opened the door, Diane was coming out. She told Roger that Molly was dead in her bed. Diane called Dr. Pratt, the family doctor, but Roger disagreed, wanting to tell the family first, so they started fighting. Diane said nobody was sorry about her mom's death, since they only loved her only for her money. After this, Diane went out with the dogs. Dr. Pratt arrived and went upstairs. He saw Molly's body and told Roger that she needed to phone the police, because she wasn't ill. Then, Roger looked out at the garden, Molly loved it, but Tom Briggs wanted the garden, and so did he. Dr. Pratt told Roger that her mother took sleeping tablets but the new bottle was missing. Just then, Diane came and apologized to Roger.
