Icha's thoughts on 'The Girl Who Leapt Through Time'

. 'The Girl Who Leapt Through Time', a 2006 Japanese animated science fiction and romance film directed by Mamoru Hosoda, produced by Madhouse and written by Satoko Okudera. Recently, I watched that film with a friend. I do not know about you but to me, that sounds like a title that tells a lot. This movie tells a story of a high school girl named Makoto Konno who found an anonymous item that somehow activated an ability of teleporting through time in a way of throwing herself. She was having the time of her life taking advantage of such opportunity, fleeing back to her past eating the pudding her sister originally ate and save herself from being late to school until she realized how there appears to be numbers written on her wrist. I suppose the writer indicated the place featured to be in Japan. I am not sure but I think so.

. Out of all the characters, I really like the original protagonist in the movie which is also the aunt of the main character. That term might sound confusing for the ones who have not watched it but it is fine. Anyway, the character is named Yoshiyama Kozuko. She is quite a bit of a hopeless romantic but she seems really calm and self-collected. I admire how she helped her niece but at the same time supports her decision no matter what even when she, herself have experienced it, not a lot of adults in movies do that. Speaking from experience, the story goes on pretty fast. It keeps on making you think that you are on the peak of the plot when actually, they are just getting started. I did not manage shed tears but I think majority of people would consider it a movie that can make you ugly cry.

. Overall, I think it was a great movie so if I were to rate it out of ten, it would be The theme song is a masterpiece, especially when you listen to it during the running scene at the end. The ending taught me many life lessons but I am not going to spoil it in case anyone wants to try watching it. I have to say, the plot was twisted but it was a fun experience trying to figure things out throughout the movie. I recommend this movie to anyone who can read rooms because a lot of the messages were delivered indirectly so it would not be as exciting if you were not able to understand the content.

The Weight of Our Sky; Fatin's two cents of opinion on this book

The Weight of Our Sky is a young adult, realistic and historical fiction written by local author Hanna Alkaf. The title of the book is taken from the Malay idiom, "di mana bumi di pijak, di situ langit dijunjung". A Malay translation of this book has also been published with the title Di Situ Langit Dijunjung. The story is based off on the incidents that take place on the 13th of May 1969, where the series of riots and sectarian violence that occurred in Malaysia. It is also known as the 13th May Incident. The main character is a young, teenage girl named Melati who suffers from OCD and anxiety. Given the setting of this fiction was in the 90's, mental health wasn't as recognised as it is today. Melati believes she harbors a djinn inside of her, thinking that is what causes her thoughts of dismay.
In the story, an elderly Chinese woman named Auntie Bee had helped Melati to escape when the riots had just started. Auntie Bee is a kind and rational woman, and she believes that people are more than their labels or race. She's a very strong woman and I really do think she's my favourite character ! Reading this book shoved me with a ton of emotions, it was like a slap into the face. There were times I felt joy, proudness, sorrow and sadness. It was indeed a rollercoaster of emotions ! It is a very interesting story. I personally do not read novels often as I easily lose my focus. However, this book has a writing style in how I would describe to have a beautiful description of scenarios. From the first line of words to the few ending paragraphs, it hooked me from start to end.
As I was creeping towards the end of the story, it never gave a direct depiction of the ending scenario. However it was heavily hinted it is a good ending. For some, it might sound weird for me to say this but I would not recommend this book to just anyone. The story is really heavy and I personally had to take a rest from time to time while reading the book as I was emotionally drained because of the heavy emotions the words had carried. The author herself had advised and given a few warnings to people it may trigger, and asked to refrain from reading her book if it may affect you so. So depending on the person, if I know them on a personal level I might or might not recommend it. However, it is a really nice book to read overall!

The fault is not yours. The film is about a teacher who feels responsible for dropout students, especially from his past where he failed to protect on of his student that committed suicide. Later, he meets four students who are left out from school and their homes. Basically, a teacher who wants to help highschool students with depression and loneliness. The film is also based on the book “Yomawari Sensei” by Mizuntani Osamu. For over 13 years, former high-school teacher Osamu Mizutani has had no rest as he has devoted himself to helping more than 5000 troubled youths put their lives back in order. The main characters are the the friend group with three people, a teacher and a girl.

Out of all the characters, my favourite would be the girl, Su yeon as most of her scenes made me sad watching them. She’s very kind and sweet in the film. One the scenes where she was comforting one of her friends was what made me love her character to be honest. The film really opens up about the pressure you get in schools, shows a lot of different emotions and how not everyone is lucky enough to have a good family. The teacher trying really hard to help the students no matter what is really admirable to me. Overall the film is just a very sad and emotional story.

I would rate the film an eight out of ten. The soundtracks for this film are incredible. Even from the trailer itself shows a lot about what type of film it is. I would recommend the film but because it’s on the heavier side, I wouldn’t recommend if you don’t prefer dark and heavy stuffs. In the end, it’s a good film and you should check it out!

There are eighteen stories in one book. In each stories, it has their own main characters. I forgot all the main characters names because I didn't read it for so long. But, I only remember this story about Mr. Meddle's bicycle. All I remember is that Mr. Meddle is a worker who helps Mr. Biscuit to deliver the foods to the person who orders it.

In this book, there is no favourite characters that I like. But some characters are silly. All the stories in this book makes me wanted to find out more about one of the stories. It makes me guessing what will happen after. Some stories make me laugh a little. There is some parts in one of the stories that makes me giggled a little. It does makes me wanted to read more books like this. Even though it only has little stories. But atleast it has eighteen stories in one book.

All stories in this book has a good ending.

'Wonder' is an American film that based on the novel wrote by R.J Palacio. The film was released in 2017 and directed by Stephen Chbosky. 'Wonder' is about a boy named August Pullman or known as Auggie, who has Treacher Collins Syndrome which affect his face. He had homeschooled previously and his parents decided to send him to the elementary school for him to socialize.

In this film, Via, which is Auggie's sister is my favourite character because she always concern about his brother. She also usually advise her brother instead of nagging to him. Furthermore, Via is as cool as a cucumber to me, even though she through a lot of hard work by herself. In my thoughts, this film is interesting and has many plots. For example, Auggie's best friend stabbed him in the back and said that he would kill himself if he looked like August. Also, most of the scenes probably will make you feel sad, but some part will fill with 'crying-happiness'.

Finally, this film could make me feel curious to know the ending since there are many plots and troubles they've gone through. Luckily, the ending was good and has satisfied me. In conclusion, I would like to recommend this film, 'Wonder' for you to watch it because there are many positive things you can learn from the film.

The movie Godzilla vs Kong and a bit of the timeline (by Ammar)

Godzilla vs Kong is a movie basically about a radioactive lizard fighting a monke with a twist. The movie was made by Adam Wingard and distributed by Warner Bros and it takes place in the mosnterverse storyline where the first movie "Godzilla (2014 film)" starts off by introducing no other then Godzilla himself then comes the second movie called "Kong: Skull Island" where a giant monke or ape named King Kong was protected from the creatures that came from the underground called "Skullcrawlers" which did end up killing Kong's kind, the company protecting this Kaiju is Monarch. A company that protects and monitors these monsters around the globe and has about 67 outpost around the world. Now come the third movie "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" Where basically a group of terrorist raided three outpost realising three titans which is King Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra. King Ghidorah being an alien titan screeches a loud roar which awakens all the other titans around the world cause them to be controlled by King Ghidorah and causing chaos around the worls while Monarch is trying to prevent it from happening and Godzilla fighting King Ghidorah and win as Godzilla got soo hot as he was to release a heatwave soo hot is melts everything around him and kills Ghidorah. Now the " main topic of today "Godzilla vs Kong"

In this movie there's basically a new company meant to fight back against the titans called Apex Cybernetics where they engineered to make Mechagodzilla controlled by a person in one of the ghidorah's skull. Now switch to Kong where he's now a very very big m o n k e almost as high as godzilla has now realise that he is in a big cage and breaks apart of it..now monarch is going test this theory out called the "Hollow Earth theory" meaning there is a tunnel where only titan's such as Kong know where it is which is in Antarctica and soo they transport him there, along the way Godzilla comes after the boat where Kong was and attacked it. soon after Godzilla leaves after Kong acts likes he was defeated, fooling godzilla to think he has won and soo he leaves. But they can't go anywhere because as soon as they start the engine up, godzilla is just going to come back around again. Soo they had to call a ton of helicopters with a giant net and lift Kong all the way to Antarctica. From there Kong goes into the tunnel that lead to the upside down world (basically the hollow earth theory is true in this movie) then he has to fight some scary looking flying skullcrawlers and then he finds a building where his kind he been there for generations. In that building he found an axe made by a giant stick some rope and a dorsel plate of godzilla, it seems like his kind and godzilla's kind has been fighting for centuries. All of the sudden the building shook as back up on the surface Godzilla knows where Kong is and shot's his atomic breath into the ground making a big hole on the building underground then roar's into the hole. Kong climb's back up and fight's Godzilla in the night until the morning. Kong was laying down on the broken buildings around his as he was about to die, until one of vehicles made by Apex was used as a defibrillator and soon revive Kong. When Kong was down for a bit a new foe has appeared! It was Mechagodzilla because now the big robot is controlled by the head of King Ghidorah. It's burst through the mountain being godzilla and attacked it, Godzilla was getting beaten by the metal robotic version of himself but then Kong came to the rescue. Soo now the two Titans teamed up against Mechagodzilla, at some point is multions giving time for the two of them to destroy it. At the end Godzilla stays on the surface protecting us on the surface from any enemies and Kong goes underground in he hollow earth being the king in there. This movie gave me chills when hearing the Mechagodzilla's roar it was scary to me and the story is pretty good but in typing this i skip the human parts og the story because that would be just toooo lonnngggg to read soo yeah-

The movie's in the monterverse do have a good ending even though it looks like it won't from time to time, I'd recommend these movie to someone who loves monsters I think it suits them. The story to me is great soo 12/10 from me

Moana (Samihah)

One of my favourite films is Moana, produced by the Walt Disney Animation Studios. It was released on November 23, 2016. This film isn’t based on a true story; it’s fictional. Some of the main characters in this film are Moana and Maui. This film takes place on a fictional island called Motunui. It’s about a girl named Moana, who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. On her way, she met Maui, the ‘demigod of the wind and sea’. Together, they sail across the ocean and continue their journey.

My favourite character in the film is Moana, because she’s brave, kind, and she never gives up. Even when she’s caught up in a dead end, she always finds a solution and get out of it. Even though it’s fictional, it felt real. The characters, situations, they never made me bored even when I've watched them on repeat. I even memorised some lines perhaps.

Most of my favourite movie scenes are always the ending, like this one. Maybe because they end up living happily together.
