         <description><![CDATA[<div>Observations: Provides insight on a students thinking. In the short term observations can be used to evaluate concepts in a certain lesson. For long term you can evaluate progress focused on problem solving, modeling, or reasoning.<br>-Checklists and Anecdotal Notes.<br><br>Questions:<br>-Information Gathering, Student Thinking, Mathematical structures, connections and relationships, Reflection and Justification.<br><br>Interviews: Blending of Observation and Questioning. One-on-One assessment of understanding.<br><br>Tasks:<br>-Problem-based tasks use problem solving activities. All students should be able to demonstrate understanding.<br>-Translational Task:  Uses 4  possible representations (words, models, numbers and word problems)<br>-Writing: Offers window into a students thinking (exit tickets and journals)</div>]]></description>

         <title>Types of Rubrics &amp; Uses</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The reason we would use a rubric is because it is a way to measure your student's success. These assessments show an enormous amount of evidence that must be evaluated. The book lists two reasons why rubrics are necessary, "1)<em> It permits students to see what is central to excellent performance, and 2) it provides the teacher with scoring guidelines that support the equitable analysis student's work." There are many types of rubrics including Generic Rubrics and Task-Specific Rubrics. Task-Specific include specific statements, (aka performance indicators) and  Generic Rubrics includes a four point scale stating things like "got it and not there yet"</em></div>]]></description>
