During the time I have been writing this song I have been influenced a lot by the likes of Sonic Youth and Dinosaur JR and lyrically Fontains DC, you can see this here with the fast paced down strokes often floating around the 12th fret. As I said before both of these bands have heavily inspired me during the writing of this song as they are some of my favourite bands at the moment.
How I've tried to differ from them is for a start I'm in a half step down as most songs in Sundiverr we play in drop C# so this song will have a different feel to most of our songs anyways. I have recorded this guitar part with a lot of reverb which is something Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr, tend not to do unless it is something that's very drone and music based meaning no vocal. Like in the song Sonic Youth - Pink Steam you can hear that first chord which they play is on a never-ending reverb feedback loop to create another layer underneath the other guitars, which is something I want to have a go on with this new track as I've just got the Walrus Slo which has a latching function meaning it can latch to a chord and create an endless drone of that chord or note.]]> 2021-02-08 13:09:43 UTC https://padlet.com/kaikaneasher/jr2rkshfoatbbjsd/wish/1176675454 kaikaneasher https://padlet.com/kaikaneasher/jr2rkshfoatbbjsd/wish/1176730072 Since being home I have been invited to join a band with some of my good friends back at home called Sundiverr so this song will ultimately be for that project and in the recording which I have been working on one of the guitar parts is recorded by Oscar the front man of Sundiverr however this song stemmed from me so I hope I can still use it in this project.]]> 2021-02-08 13:21:57 UTC https://padlet.com/kaikaneasher/jr2rkshfoatbbjsd/wish/1176730072 kaikaneasher https://padlet.com/kaikaneasher/jr2rkshfoatbbjsd/wish/1176929543 So when I came to recording I decided I liked how the guitar part sounded with quite a bit of reverb and a bit of vibrato to bring out the shimmery and I preferred playing it on my Squire Jaguar with the neck pickup as it gives that old tube kind of jagged sound. I know having a really jagged sounds usually doesn't go well with a reverb but I think it sounds good and still delivers the same energy along with making the whole song sound wider and like its being played to an open room. 
So we recorded both the guitar parts around my house a few days ago, Oscar brought his guitar amp and pedals and we just miked it up as shown below. with my guitar part in the verse I decided to pay it straight left and Oscars right so you can hear both parts simultaneously without it sounding too messy and without them getting in the way of each other. The lyrics I have tried to kind of express how this pandemic is making me feel and how hard it has been for me to think positive after having all our plans were sacked off and the thing that helps me the most (seeing friends) has literally been made illegal. This song is kind of directed at myself to try and reassure myself that things will be okay and I just need to get through this and then everything will be the way they are supposed to be. thinking of lyrics in the future i think i may write something toward the government as us university students have had literally no financial help and have basically just been written off in the eyes of the gov meaning we now haven't experienced uni or literally any of its benefits the real reason why we pay 9000 a year. We have been left to buy our own recording equipment which obviously every musician will need at some point but literally having no other choice than to spend your food and rent money on equipment which would have been provided really bugs me. I don't know if ill be able to put drums on this track myself so I may just end up rerecording which is sad because I really like the sound of this recording. Equally i could just not add drums but it feels like there's a big portion of the song missing due to there not being bass or drums on the track. Because I cant record well to click tracks I usually just make a drum rack with a bass drum on every beat(look below) to give me the steady rhythm. So ill send the project over to him tonight and see if he want to record his part again.
