Digital literacy refers to an individual's ability to find, evaluate, produce and communicate clear information through writing and other forms of communication on various digital platforms. Digital literacy showcases an individual's grammar, computer, writing, and typing skills on platforms, such as social media and blog sites. Digital Literacy also includes other devices, such as, smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktop PCs. While digital literacy initially focused on digital skills and stand-alone computers, its focus has shifted to network devices including the Internet and use of social media. Digital literacy does not replace traditional forms of literacy, instead building upon the skills that form the foundation of traditional forms of literacy.

My favourite device is my iphone because its my whole life all stored in this little device. I carry my phone everywhere because it stores all my photos, messages, just about all my memories. I can capture all these fun times I have with friends and family that will forever be in one place, which is my photo album. My phone is filled with entertainment but most importantly ways I can connect with the ones I love. It isn't just games on there, I have my social media apps that keep me posted on what my family and friends are doing around the world. Phones aren't just for show, they also help out with daily activities and make life a little bit easier. Like for instance, they can help organize any types of files or important paper work, or even if you are focused on your health, there are health apps that help you track your journey. There are multiple benefits for mobile devices but mine really helps me more than just being there for just texting friends.

Israeli model and actor Gal Gadot first made a small appearance as Wonder Woman in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but here the story takes place much earlier when she’s just discovering her powers. We meet the young princess Diana (aka Wonder Woman) as a feisty child on the women-only island of Themyscira. Her mother is proud Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielson) and her aunt is the fierce warrior, General Antiope (Robin Wright, who almost steals the show with hard muscles and horseback bravura). Together, they agree that Diana must learn to fight harder than all the rest in order to fulfil her destiny. There’s an extended setup sequence on the idyllic island, showing fit, gorgeous women training hard with fists and arrows and talking politics and history. Some may find this a little stodgy, an exercise in kitsch, but it’s hard to overstate the fun of a well-realised vision of strong, athletic women living happily without a man in sight. (The voiceover explaining the society and its relationship to the warring Greek gods is garbled nonsense of course, but this is a superhero movie so it has to be done.)

Knowing how to answer your emails, to access a company’s files on Google Drive, or to tweak a website’s code are all digital skills that are increasingly sought after in today’s job market.

However, in the modern workplace, it is increasingly impossible to point out which digital skills you may or may not need. There is no hard and fast rule about which jobs you will need to Excel for and which jobs you will not. Digital literacy is a language; the more digital skills you have, the better you can speak it. This metaphor struck a chord with noted digital writer Marc Prensky who coined the terms ‘digital immigrant’ and ‘digital native’.

To the uninitiated, learning digital skills can make a person feel like they are entering a new country full of new customs. Digital skills come with their own set of sub-skills after all.
