Growing up, his family owned a small farm while his dad used working as a boatman as a side job. At the age of 16 he borrowed money from his mother to buy his own boat. During the War 1812, he used his boat to send supplies, giving him more money to invest into his business later on. In 1829, Vanderbilt began his own steamship company and in the late 1860s he held a railroad empire!&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

Mellon took over the family business and built a financial-industrial empire. He created Alcoa, Gulf Oil and Union Steel. In the early 1920s, Mellon was considered one of the richest men in the U.S. Mellon was also Treasury for President Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover. Mellon's fortune and art collection were the foundation for the National Gallery of Art.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br><strong>John Pierpont Morgan</strong> was born on April 17, 1837, in Hartford, Connecticut. Morgan was the son of a banker, and went into the family business. After working for his father, Morgan created his own banking company in 1871. It was so big that the U.S. government looked to Morgan for help with the depression of 1895. Morgan died on March 31, 1913, in Rome, Italy. He was the master of finance at the time of his death, and is considered one of the country's leading businessmen.</div>]]></description>

Ford would then learn to operate and service steam engines. Ford made the Ford Model T car in 1908 and revolutionized the industry. Ford sold millions of cars and became a world-famous company head. The company made a lasting impact on other technological development and U.S. infrastructure.</div>]]></description>
