         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Great Railroad Strike of 1877 was one of the newest labor conflicts in the United State. It began when the financial bubble of railroads burst in 1873 and the Railroad owners cut worker's wages. Angry that the railroad companies were getting government subsidies and paid shareholders lucrative stocks, they began shutting down railroad traffic through out the US. </p>]]></description>

         <title>The Homestead Steel Strike of 1892</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Homestead Steel Strike occurred in relation to a new hired manager (Henery C. Frick who had a strong sense of anti-union). Frick ordered a lockout of the workers and hired three hundred Pinkerton detectives when no settlement was reached.  After a big scuffle, 3 Pinkertons and 6 workers died. The governor of Pennsylvania then called the state militia to escort strike-breakers into the factory to get it back and running </p>]]></description>

         <title>The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire of 1911</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire was a workplace disaster. It happened when the doors had been chained shut to stop workers from taking unauthorized breaks and the worker only had access to a sub par fire latter. An unkown fire source had engulfed the building and with the doors being chained shut and the ladder eventually breaking, the women had no choice but to jump off of the building. </p><p>71 Workers were injured and 146 had died </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Orangeburg Massacre was a riot that broke out due to a protest at the All Star Bowling Lane when kept refusing to give service to African Americans. The Police were called arrested 15 students who were apart of the HBCUs. This triggered a response from the African American community which made a hundrend students desend  and 150 Officers to the bowling alley. By night, several people were beaten and an officer injured. 2 days later, violence broke out again. 200 students gathered at SC State's entryway to sang around a bonfire then 9 patrolmen shot at the crowd , harming 28 men and women. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>On May 25, 2020 , A Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin had his knee on the neck of George Floyd. In the video, George Floyd can be heard saying "I can't breathe". Officer Derek kept his knee on Floyd's neck for nine minutes which led to his death. This footage shocked the country and there were protest's in his name. </p>]]></description>
