125,306 people participated in the COIVIDiSTRESS Global Survey for a period of 62 days. Although data from all over the world was submitted the article focuses on the ten countries with the most amount of participants. Out of the ten countries, seven were in Europe, one in Asia, one is South America, and one in North America. Although there are ten different countries being represented I believe that it is not enough to truly represent what kind of awareness people around the WHOLE world have surrounding mental health. As I mentioned in my last post, I believe that cultural norms are a big part of what is and isn’t socially accepted. I do, however, believe this article is a great insight on how people in Europe view mental health and what difference education and gender makes when it comes to awareness in such countries.

Based on the document I read, I consider that some health characteristics to mention is to have some occupational therapy, since being so long without anything to do in isolation we fall into a state of anxiety because we do not know what to do, since we have had an occupation since childhood, either school, sports in the afternoon, work, and that out of nowhere they take away all the activities and lock you up can cause a feeling of panic and anxiety, besides the fear of going out and being infected, since there was no certainty of how it could affect us.

In 2020, the global COVID-19 pandemic had far-reaching health, economic, and sociopsychological consequences. Governments worldwide implemented various measures to contain the virus, including lockdowns, isolation, and testing. These changes had significant psychological effects on individuals, influencing their compliance with preventive measures. Psychological and social factors, like trust in authorities and perceptions of disease severity, played a crucial role in shaping compliance. To better understand this intersection of physical and behavioral aspects during the pandemic, a large-scale dataset from the global survey COVIDiSTRESS was collected, involving over 173,000 participants from 179 countries. Pandemics also generated fear, misinformation, and stress, affecting compliance. It's essential to consider both medical and psychological factors when implementing prolonged quarantine measures. Social support can mitigate stressors, while chronic stressors may reduce compliance. COVIDiSTRESS aims to assist health authorities and policymakers in responding effectively to the pandemic's complex psychological and behavioral challenges.

In 2020, the world faced one of the most confusing problems: the COVID-19 pandemic. I say confusing because it is now known that the protocols taken weren't the most efficient, for dealing with the true problems. Clearly, based on the results of this article and the COVIDiSTRESS Global Survey, it can be seen how these protocols negatively affected those around the world. While the article does focus more on the European demographic, these negative feelings of anxiety being measured were prominent around the world. The question that arises is whether the European dominant perspective truly measures the extent to how much these worldwide protocols had an effect on everyone everywhere.
