6. Idol worship emerged.

• Reference : Surah Nuh (71:23)

• The word “Ihsan” is mentioned 21 times.

• Characteristics of a person who practices Ihsan:

i. Doing good to others.

ii. Doing good to others in the best way.

iii. Doing good with the intention for the sake of Allah.

2.Examples of Ihsan:

a) Prophet Noah (Nuh) A.S (Surah As-Saffat, Ayat 79-80):

• Preached for 950 years.

• Preached day and night.

• Delivered Allah’s message about the ark and idolatry.

b) Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim) A.S (Surah As-Saffat, Ayat 105, 112, and Surah Al-Anbiya, Ayat 102-103):

• Admonished his father for worshipping idols.

• The story of sacrificing his Sacrificed his family for Allah’s sake.

c) Prophet Joseph (Yusuf) A.S:

• The word “Muhsin” is mentioned 5 times.

• Resisted temptation, justice, and the king.

d) Hadith of Jibril:

• Ihsan means worshipping as if you see Allah. If not, know that Allah sees you.

• Reward from Allah.

• Proceed good learning : Learning and growing in knowledge is a way to honor your parents.

• Good Manners : Speak kindly and always show respect.

Ways to Respect Parents :

• Be humble : Stay humble when interacting with your parents.

• Pray for them : Keep praying for their happiness and well-being.

• Visit them : Check on them regularly and spend time with them.

• Recite Al-Fatihah for them : For parents who have passed, recite Al-Fatihah for them as a sign of love.

• Believe in all prophets: They guide people, and the Prophet will give intercession (help) on Judgment Day.

• Example: Prophet Muhammad will not give intercession to people who commit shirk (worship other than Allah).

Syafaat from Other Sources :

• The Qur’an : Can help in the grave. Example: Surah Al-Mulk protects.

• Babies who pass away : Will help their parents in the Hereafter.

• Hafiz/Hafizah : People who memorize the Qur’an can help others enter Paradise.

• Fallen Heroes : People who die for Allah will be allowed to help others on Judgment Day.

Who Will Get Syafaat :

• Fair leaders

• People who worship a lot

• Those whose hearts are attached to the mosque

• Two people who meet and separate for Allah’s sake

• People who resist the temptation of women

• Those who cry remembering Allah

• People who give charity sincerely

Prophets & Messengers as Role Models :

• Prophets: Keep the message for themselves.

• Messengers: Share the message with others.

Hikmah and Ibadah :

• Acts of worship help acquire hikmah by cultivating sincerity, humility, and devotion.

Objective of Hikmah in Islam :

• Deepen understanding of Islam and encourage living by its teachings.

Hikmah and Education :

• Encourages critical thinking, inquiry, and understanding of Islamic values to develop well-rounded individuals.

Niyyah (Intention) :

• Refers to the motive behind an act, ensuring it is for Allah’s sake.

• Acts without niyyah may not be accepted by Allah.

Key Elements for Correct Niyyah :

1. Sincerity: Solely for Allah.

2. Purity: Free from ulterior motives.

3. Clarity: Clear purpose.

4. Focus: Avoid distractions.

5. Consistency: Maintain the right intention throughout.

Amal (Deeds) :

• Refers to acts of worship and good deeds performed sincerely.

• Includes salah, zakat, fasting, kindness, and hajj.

• Intention is as crucial as the act itself.

Ehsan (Excellence) :

• Worship Allah as though you see Him; if not, know He sees you.

• Reflects virtues like compassion, honesty, and patience.

• Acquired through awareness, understanding, action, reflection, and consistency.

• Instills awareness of Allah, restrains from immoral behaviour, and encourages obedience.

• Attributes of Saleh :

  • Ikhlas (Sincerity for Allah)

  • Fear of Allah

  • Remembrance of Allah

Fasting :

• Develops taqwa, empathy, and discipline. It helps believers draw closer to Allah.

• Key points :

  • Recognising Allah's constant observation

  • Weakening Satan’s influence

  • Fostering acts of worship

Charity :

• Zakāh purifies wealth and self, fostering generosity and reducing greed.

• Key benefits :

  • Cleanses sins and bad traits

  • Supports the needy

Pilgrimage :

• Hajj disciplines believers to follow Allah’s commandments and abstain from prohibited acts.

• Etiquette of Hajj :

  • Avoid indecent acts, disobedience, and disputes

  • Stay devoted to worship and good deeds

Conclusion :

• NibEdah fosters moral discipline, taqwa, and spiritual purification. By understanding and performing NibEdah sincerely, Muslims can gain Allah’s pleasure.

• Prepare mentally and physically: Purify intentions, perform wudu', wear clean attire.

• Understand the meanings of recitations.

• Choose a quiet and clean place for solat.

• Avoid distractions: Keep gadgets away.

• Visualise standing before Allah.

Techniques to Maintain Khusyu’ :

• Focus on every movement and recitation.

• Understand the meaning of the ayat.

• Slow down and avoid rushing.

• Reflect on the significance of each action.

• Make dua for khusyu’.

How to Get Khusyu’ :

• Prepare for Solah

• Clean yourself and perform siwak (tooth cleaning).

• Do not pray if food has been served.

• Do not pray while holding the urge to relieve yourself (either for urination or defecation).

Effects of Khusyu' in Daily Life and Hereafter :

• Increases mindfulness and discipline.

• Strengthens connection with Allah.

• Promotes inner peace and reduces stress.

• Rewards in the Hereafter: Acceptance of prayers and closeness to Allah.

• Total obedience to Allah’s commands.

• In Salah:

  • Bowing and prostration signify submission.

  • Builds unwavering loyalty to Allah.

• Reflection: Salah reminds us of our purpose and servitude to Allah.

Al-Jihad (Struggle in the path of Allah) :

• Striving for Allah’s cause, spiritually and morally.

• In Salah:

  • Overcoming distractions to maintain focus.

  • Battling the self to achieve Khusyu’.

• Reflection: Daily prayers strengthen our resolve to face life’s struggles with patience.

Muhasabah (Reflection) :

• Self-accountability and self-contemplation.

• In Salah:

  • Time for self-reflection and seeking forgiveness.

  • Evaluating actions and intentions before Allah.

• Reflection: Encourages a purified heart and a clear conscience.

Tawaddu’ (Humility/Humbleness) :

• Acknowledgment of one’s position as a servant of Allah.

• In Salah:

  • Physical acts like bowing and prostration demonstrate humility.

  • Removes arrogance and instills gratitude.

• Reflection: Develops a humble attitude in daily interactions.

Iffah (Modesty/self-restraint from sinful behaviour) :

• Avoidance of sinful behavior and desires.

• In Salah:

  • Reminder of Allah’s presence fosters modesty in thoughts and actions.

  • Nurtures self-discipline and moral integrity.

• Reflection: A barrier against sins and worldly distractions.

• Fasting controls desires and narrows the path of Satan, helping to achieve taqwa.

• Fasting teaches to avoid sins like backbiting, lying, and foul speech.

Sabr :

Three Types of Patience in Fasting:

• Patience in Obedience to Allah: Enduring hunger, thirst, and fatigue during fasting.

• Patience in Avoiding Prohibitions: Staying away from eating, drinking, and other forbidden actions during fasting.

• Patience in Enduring Hardships and Enjoying Joys: Managing hunger during the day and experiencing joy at iftar.

Takrim :

Taqrim in fasting involves:

• Obeying Allah’s Command: Fasting shows loyalty to Allah’s commands.

• Seeking Closer Proximity to Allah: Fasting boosts faith and spirituality.

• Developing Self-Discipline: Fasting teaches self-restraint.

• Promoting Empathy and Compassion: Fasting helps individuals relate to the less fortunate.

Rahmah (Mercy, Elegance, and Compassion) :

• Seeking Allah’s Mercy: Fasting is a way to ask for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.

• Reflecting on Allah’s Mercy: Fasting helps individuals appreciate Allah’s blessings and be more grateful.

• Developing Empathy and Compassion: Fasting nurtures compassion for those in need.

• Forgiving and Reconciling: Ramadan is a time for forgiveness and peace.

• Fostering Mercy in Character: Fasting encourages the cultivation of patience and kindness, which reflects Allah’s mercy.

• Literal Meaning: Growth, increase, cleanliness, and betterment.

• Technical Meaning: A specified portion of wealth given to deserving recipients as prescribed by Allah.

• Difference from Tax: Zakāh is for spiritual purification and social responsibility.

Zakah vs Sadaqah:

• Zakah is compulsory, structured, and has fixed rules for distribution.

• Sadaqah is voluntary, unstructured, and includes any act of giving.

Virtues of Zakah:

• Tawakkul (Reliance on Allah): Teaches reliance on Allah rather than material wealth.

• Ukhuwwah (Brotherhood): Strengthens unity, love, and empathy while eliminating envy.

Zakah and Relationships:

• Vertical Relationship: Strengthens connection with Allah.

• Horizontal Relationship: Builds strong ties among humans.

• Combines spiritual and social benefits.

Conclusion:

• More than a financial duty, Zakah is a spiritual and social act of worship.

• It promotes trust in Allah and unity among Muslims.
