  • Emotional and social development have similar characteristics but are still different types of patterns. Social and emotional developments have the same key elements, affection and harmony. A babies personality is based on their social and emotional development. How people interact with them can influence how babies with interact with others. Emotional development has to do with things like how the kid is treated at home and how the care is provided. If a child is always being cared for and loved then that child then becomes a happy child because he/she know that they have someone with love them at home. Being a healthy emotional developed infant helps them be more self- confident and more stress free, and instead of being sad, mad, and stressed they can be more happy.  Being a healthy social developed infant helps in them growing up to be able to peacefully interact with others.

  1. Physical characteristics of a toddler would include being able to use gross motor skills for things like jumping and running. Their dental habits also change as  teeth start to come in. The types of food they eat become different now that teeth are coming in. In size they are growing which means they need bigger clothing. And Is able to use eating utensils (example… spoon, fork and cup).
  2. Height changes 
- by the age of 2 1/2 the baby is have the size of an adult.

- changes in posture cause improvement in overall posture.

How does a toddler develop socially?
- Being able to express their inner emotions of how they feel. Making friends. Showing anger in a healthy way. Figuring out conflicts peacefully. Taking care of someone who has been hurt. Waiting patiently. Following rules. Enjoying the company of others. All of these qualities, and more, describe the arc of healthy social-emotional development. Like any skill, young children develop these abilities in small steps over time.
