One, being that Dantes had a great life before going to jail. He had a beautiful fiance, he was a young captain, etc. When Dantes got sent to jail he lost everything and he was extremely lonely.

In the poem the bird is alone and feels trapped. With the bird being isolated it restricts his freedom and he´s trapped, he does whatever he can to try and fight his way out. In the poem it states that the bird tries it´s hardest, fighting and beating against the cage to free himself. The bird is denied his freedom, in the first stanza it describes freedom and then shows the birds current situation starved of freedom.
