Defense officials and military commanders trained the military to learn to resist torture. What does that mean you might say? When in war and you are captured you are taught techniques to get out of torture. The key is to keep it simple. Quick answers with little info as possible to stop the torture.

Many are against the idea of using torture as a technique to get answers out of lets say terrorist. It totally should be allowed. Its kind of a double standard, Americans are known as one of the most powerful countries. So it make sense that being one of the most powerful countries we would use all the techniques we could get. That way America stays in power. But when it comes to other countries using torture on us of course we don't agree with it, it could be our loves ones receiving the torture.

Torture should be allowed in war. Its a great (for us) technique that has worked in the past to get info. It puts fear into the eyes of our enemies and holds us in power. Without we may have never found Osama Bin Laden.

It couldn't work if the torture last a certain amount of time then its pointless because they wouldn't give in, they might just say "well looks like I'm gonna die anyways so I won't give in." In that case a person is killed and there was no benefit that came out of it.

Torture in Our Warfare

America is more excepting of torture now then it was before. The White House has been threatening to veto the anti- torture Amendment that was passed by the Senate. But many US courts find torture such as "waterboarding" a war crime. The whole point of the anti- torture Amendment is to reaffirm the prohibition on torture, as if June 26, 2015 the Amendment was agreed to with 78 YEAs and 21 NAYs. At the time Susan Collins and Angus King were our senators. They both had voted YEA. President Obama made sure that he was heard when it came to Bush-era "interrogation techniques".

What It Says About Us Now?

“All I want to say is that there was ‘before’ 9/11 and ‘after’ 9/11. After 9/11 the gloves come off.” once said by Cofer Black (a former CIA director), who makes a good point when it comes to living in a post-9/11 world. He explains that its a changed world now and that from National Security State anything goes from US point of view. Its good to think of it this way, when you watch a a TV series where torture is used, we refer to them as the antagonist. All American torturers are our heroes today. This could be due to post-9/11 where we now feel like our lives are being threatened in our own country.

Personally when we were looking for Osama Bin Laden, it was the right choice to use torture. We were so vulnerable and desperate to find him at this time in need. Like I said before it was a great technique for us to use, doesn't mean its always gonna work.

Most countries that suffer terrorism are not for torture. Many english speaking countries and south Asian cultures support torture but only Muslim/African cultures are most likely to use torture. French militaries trains in psychological and physical torture of political prisoners in Argentina. Unfortunately the french did not find it that effective. "We all had the same reaction. We tried not to see it. We were shocked, but powerless. At first, revolted; by the end, indifferent. It has to be said, it's shameful." Raymond Dumas had once said after coming back from Algeria and witnessing torture. This probably means France no longer uses torture. But compared to Isis who believe that torture does work. In fact Isis revealed their sophistication of its interrogation and incarceration process and who controls it. Isis prisons is controlled by many different parts. Such as Islamic police, morality police, security forces and military police. They take torture to a whole new level, so it seems.
