brown as the dirt 

or hazel like the nut

my appearance is fluffy, fuzzy or frizzy 

my laziness makes me look like a rock

I spend my days laying in grassy meadows 

letting the bugs buzz around my bulging eyes

you can smell me from...                                                                                                                        a mile away 

though I don't seem to notice 

I am a fountain that provides protein 

And some people consider me holy

but I really can't do much

My tongue is like 

sandpaper

I sleep a lot and get 

spunky

 after 

I can

 jump

 almost as high as a kangaroo 

I feel my spongy paws against the fluffy carpet 

I 

meow

 as loud as I can to be heard. 

I am a part of a 

huge

 family.

I see white strings coming out of my face.

My little pink nose is wet to the touch. 

My humans talk in a baby voice to me. 

I am a social butterfly

I am a wild child that is unpredictable

I am gentle enough to soothe the skin,

Yet possess the strength to rupture any size rock into crumbles of sprinkled dust

I am known to be a good influence for you 

Some even say I’m as good as gold

I clean you, but you can’t clean me 

I can roar louder than a lion

And run as fast as a cheetah

I am as clear as glass

And can freeze at 32°degrees

You need me for survival

Blows between my burgundy petals

I look at the tree branches swaying in the distance

Waving me “Good morning”

 I soak in the last drops of the morning dew

 Hoping to bloom to my full potential

 I wait for the sun to wake up 

To feed and warm me

And give me life

 

Now that I have fully blossomed

It is my time to shine

Though I am delicate as a snowflake

I am bold and beautiful

I am food for bees,

Gifts to men,

A symbol of love

I come in every color of the rainbow

But am worth a pot of gold

 

Alas, my time in paradise ends abruptly

As I am ripped from my family

 And put on display

My beauty is relegated to

My appearance in a vase

Sweet like honey,

 I fill the room with my perfume

Reminiscing about my time in nature

When the wind whispered secrets to me

My task is relentless, impossible

With a sudden jostle, we all know duty has come knocking, asking for employment.

The bay door slides open, and being the messenger I am, I prepare my proclamation.

A guiding hand lands on me, directing me away from my brethren with animation.

My missile head rests on the wall, and dragging it across, my spirit ignites.

I rush forward. Sulfurous smoke clears, knowing my message excites.

My energy is my timer, and it cares not for my life.

Halting at debris, my work becomes strife.

My greater brethren spring forth.

Life licks forth from my touch

My work is done, so I die.

However, Like a husk,

My empty corpse

Is useless.

 

And as bright as a headlight.

I can’t always be with you,

But you love me when I come.

If you had me all the time,

My value would go down.

I am a glass half full.

I seem subtle, but make you beam.

I am the mountain standing above the valley 

And the laughter of a baby.

My presence whispers in your ear,

Making moments more magnificent.

Every second you need my company

I am a tool that causes both anger and happiness

I am often seen standing at schools

Or around someones home

Change one thing about me, and I mean something else

I am like snow, flowing through the breeze

Whistling as I go

I am strong and sturdy like a tree

But people often are mean to me

I am often seen as a hateful image, but also one that shows love

Whoever has me has a different image of what I am

But to me, I am hope.

On a bad day I sit in the sand

I can be all colors

You can hit it as far as you want

My enemy is the sand

I appear quick like a magician

Sometimes I have came late

When I’ve got cold feet 

You will take hard heavy footsteps 

In the now nipping air

A step inside is comfort

Outside it can bite hard like a beast

Crackle crackle, you take refuge by the fire

And you limit what you can do until I pass with time

What am I?

As I walk, planes run from me.

My fur as strong as rope protects me,

as I slither between the skyscrapers like a snake. 

When I look down the cars look like boats in a harbor. 

It’s like a maze in so many ways. 

Frantically I freak out, 

Crashing through the streets and bashing buildings.

My wrath shall never end.

I get shorter as I am used but I am not a pencil  

I am made of wax but not a crayon 

I can help you see in the dark like a flashlight  

I am often on a birthday cake, but I am not icing  

I light up a room like the stars  

I am as bright as the sun

I am found all around the world, in every store

I am creativity

Enjoyed by all people

While I sit on your shoulder

To undo the work of the one on the other

A galaxy with many colors

An ocean salty enough to dry over time

Brighter than all the stars

But cold as night

I can be solid as stone 

But can be changed in seconds

As  time tick, I begin too timelessly olden

But even young and open I can be broken

I say a lot even if I don’t speak

But words don’t always have to speak

They say I’m pretty when I’m colorful

But dark colors seem to be avoided

I have a twinkle that can make heads turn

What am I

As plump as an exercise ball
My job is joy and laughter
One season of smiles

Fly as fast as a flash

Cold snow glows
Crash, bang, thud the presents go under the tree

Checks like red roses
I quickly disappear before you can spy 
Make sure you’re a good kid and do not lie

You will try to hold on to me until you get old

but to grow you must let go of me

Sometimes I leave a sting as hurtful as a bee

And sometimes I leave a smile as big as a baby’s first

Every time you look back at me, I fade away slowly

I am a recollection of your hard times and good times

Like a dream I slowly go out of remembrance

Heavier than a boulder.

Rolls smooth like a marble.

It is the shelter.

It is the danger.

Could be colored like the holidays or not at all.

Seamlessly speeding.

Fast moving past.

A growl and a groan.

All inside a hard shell.

I roll like a soccer ball in motion

I am a personal story 

I sparkle like a star in the dark of the night 

However when night comes I am in another dimension 

I show emotions 

You take me for granted 

I am a window to your soul 

A flood can sometimes involuntarily take me over 

I gleam In the sun beams 

But small like a basketball

My feet are gentle

And my senses are sharp and aware

Fuzzy filled body full of fur

You could say that I am the man in the hat that is black

I tend to somewhat say ow while I hiss out loud

I have a tail that is slick

With fanged teeth like a tiger

My pupils are slits

It was said that I was worshipped in ancient Egypt

And I am as swift as the flash

But I can be an ass at times

Yet people still love me
