What differentiated reading instruction means to me, is that it is created to meet the individual needs of each student. for example, the content, the learning environment, the process, the assessments, etc. can be tailored to meet the needs to each student.

· Individualized instruction and remediation are not always appropriate for each student.

·It surprised me that students can be pulled from different subject contents to work on their reading skills.
·It’s not always beneficial for students to be pulled out of the classroom, during reading, because they may risk the chance of missing something. So when is the most appropriate time to pull the students?

What do you think is the #1 reason to differentiate?

I believe that the number one reason to differentiate is to meet ALL students needs and not just a handful or group of students needs in a classroom. It allows for all students to be successful and gain growth in their reading. When differentiating, it allows for us teachers, to take in all students needs into consideration and helps us adapt the concepts, curriculum, environment, etc. to make sure that all of our students are being taken care of and are cared for.
