  • A simple blood test is usually used to diagnose syphilis. If a person has an ulcer or sore this can also be tested for syphilis with a swab for a PCR test. Also, a single intramuscular injection of long acting Benzathine Penicillin G will cure a person who has primary, secondary, or early latent syphilis. 
  • Syphilis can usually be treated with a short course of antibiotics. It's important to get it treated because syphilis won't normally go away on its own and it can cause serious problems if left untreated.
