         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>The birds with long beaks have better chances of living because they have the availability to eat the seeds that the birds with short beaks can't get to. For example the tribulus plant has at least 2 more seeds per square meter because a vast majority of the birds couldn't get to them over the two years. Knowing this only the birds with long beaks can get to the tribulus seeds and they live because there are more tribulus seeds when the portulaca population goes down severely. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Short beak genes start to disappear causing the gene pool to favor long beaks so when the long beak bird population increases the small beak decreases. An example of this is in 1776 the average beak length was 10.7095206 and in 1778 average beak length was 11.6067741 this is a very large change.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Because the drought in 77 had only 20mm of rain. The small beak finch food source was the porticus and over the years there average seed per square meter went down by 10.8788 but since but the tribulus plant stayed alive through the drought only big beak birds could eat them because the seeds were big and hard and their beaks were thicker and stronger than the small beaks. This is why the small beak finches population started to decrease. The data from lab 18 showed that from 76 to 78 the beck average size increased significantly because the small beaked birds died leaving only long beak genes on the islands. </div>]]></description>
