With groups of coral extending over 1000 ft,  over 55 species of coral reside here, along with over 340 species of fish. Sea turtles and Eagle Rays swim in these waters as well. The Lac bay created by the reefs is a large mangrove habitat, supporting frigate birds and large fields of sea grass.

Diving is the main source of income for the economy of the island,  allowing for the government to ban most fishing. Due to this, many species of reef fish remain in the reefs, unharmed.

In the early 80s, the reef fell to a disease that killed algae-eating urchins, causing domination by algae over coral. Recent hot weather has caused coral bleaching, as small algae are killed off, leaving the coral white. Disease also kills the coral left weak from the bleaching.

With coral nurseries, the organization restores and raises coral to put back in the main reef. Through many methods,  they help restore needy parts of the reef. They also monitor the reef in partnership with Project Baseline, to keep up to date with the activities within the reefs.
