Press Conference

It was Deepavali so therefore there were no lectures. Because of that, I went and read the slides that the lecturer provided, the slides briefly explained what a press conference is and its importance. Before all of this, I was not entirely aware of how important press conferences are, particularly in times of crisis, as they provide an opportunity to answer concerns, deliver a clear message, and shape an organization's image. The suggestion to prepare for potential searches caught my attention. It makes sense that prepared responses allow spokespersons to maintain focus and control of the discussion. Discovering how tone, body language, and how you structure your responses can significantly impact how clear and professional you sound also caught my attention. Overall, press conferences are about transparency and fostering trust, not only about disseminating facts. I learned a lot from reading the slides and I am looking forward to the next lecture.

Spokesperson in Media Relations

Since this week was quiz week, there was no lecture. I believe I did fairly well on my quiz. I read the slides that my lecturer had given us after the quiz when I got home. It has to do with media relations and the spokesperson. The slides described the responsibilities of a spokesperson in media relations as well as the skills and capabilities needed to effectively represent a company or brand in the media. I now have a better knowledge of the definition of a spokesperson in media relations as well as their responsibilities after viewing the slides. Additionally, I discovered that the term "bridging" refers to a strategy for redirecting a discussion back to your primary point, even when the question is off-topic. It helps you stay focused on the main ideas you wish to express. To sum up, I am aware that a spokesperson's function in media relations is essential to an organization's public relations efforts and image formation.

Since this week is a study week for students like me, there was also no lecture this week. Even though there was no lecture, I could still study using the slides. We were supposed to study media monitoring this week. After reading the slides, I can confidently say that I now have a greater knowledge of media monitoring. It is mainly the process of continuously reading, seeing, or listening to the editorial content of media sources, then locating and flagging content that includes particular keywords or subjects. In addition, there are five categories of media monitoring: social media monitoring, online reputation management, news monitoring, competitors monitoring, and crisis management, each with a specific explanation. In conclusion, the definition of media monitoring and its significance to society were discussed in this lecture. Since it is a practical way to stay aware of competitors, market trends, and mentions of brands and products, I think it is important. Additionally, media monitoring enables us to react promptly to any unfavorable news or PR emergencies, thereby assisting in minimizing any possible harm to the reputation of the company.

News Release

I learned what a news release is and how to write one in the lesson we had this week. A written statement created for news media members that announces something deemed noteworthy is called a news release. We need to know all the information, numbers, and specifics to draft the ideal press release. Additionally, it should be interesting enough to entice reporters to learn more. In addition, I learned about news hooks. There 's also something important that I learned, which is the inverted pyramid. It was essential for us to learn this since we all wanted to write the perfect news release. In the end, since we were also given the duty of attempting to create a news release on our own, I now recognize the significance of one and know how to write one on my own.

PR Campaigns

I learned the key components of developing a successful public relations campaign at this week's session. The lecture this week mostly emphasizes the value of research and persuasive presentations. Research is pointed out as a critical component of every campaign, highlighting the necessity of an extensive approach to data collecting and the necessity of presenting both primary and secondary research findings in our campaign presentation to demonstrate the efficacy of our strategy. Before we start with any research, we must make sure we understand the campaign's goal, the necessary information, and the practical issues. Along with learning how to conduct research on primary and secondary data, I also learnt the distinction between the two types of data. Postal, telephone, in-person, online, and other methods are used to collect primary data. Websites, news articles, social media, and more will be used as secondary data. In conclusion, this lecture is really interesting to me because it will help me with my upcoming homework.
