Wordsworth and his poem "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud"

Nome: Alice Bonetti

Classe: 4aescs

I wandered lonely as a cloud was written by William Wordsworth and is found in the lyrical balladds collection published in 1798. The language is characterized by a poetic tone and a romantic atmosphere. In this poem the poet walks alone through the countryside and during his walk sees a large amount of daffodils that makes him happy. The first part is the description of a natural scene and the flowers are metaphorically described as a dancing crowd whose beauty is superior to everything else. The poem is divided into four stanzas: In the first stanza the poet sees the daffodils, in the second stanza the poet describes the daffodils comparable to stars. In the third stanza the poet is happy because he is in contact with nature. And in the last stanza the poet returns home and remembers the daffodils and confirms in nature his emotions. The "present moment" of the poem is Wordsworth reminiscent of daffodils. In these poems man seems to communicate with nature in a pantheistic vision where god is present in nature and is not separable from it.
