Catalyst 49 - Final Projects & Themes by Mike Schilling

How did 2 other teams' final projects make you think differently about the course themes of interdisciplinarity, empathy, & power? This can be the themes themselves, how to incorporate the themes into research, or anything else that has advanced your perspective.

Just the other day I was in one of the buildings and I was having a hard time finding a water fountain and had to ask one of the people at the front desk where I could find one.

I often mistake the term, "empathy," as an emotional value. We have empathy for those who are hurt and crying, those who are made fun of, and those who may feel too insecure to see their true beauty. That being said, this team made me think of empathy in a different way. I now feel empathetic for those who do not have proper water sources, and I want to take action in following the roadmap of gaining them access. Empathy exceeds those whose emotions are apparent. We can be empathetic for those who are less privileged than ourselves.
