The “veteran” prisoners were in disbelief when they were told no one knew this was happening. “You should have Hanged yourselves rather than come here. Didn’t you know what was in store for yourselves here in Auschwitz? You didn’t know? In 1994?” (Wiesel 30). This inmate is showing he he’s angry and confused on why no one knew about this place even though it’s been going on for quite some time now. I think it’s absurd not even people in their own continent and or country had no idea this was going on, that innocent people were being killed.

Elie found it hard to pray because he had seen all these people burning alive and into flames and had been in pure shock. He felt like he couldn’t speak and he felt anger rising in him. He had said “father,”I said. “If that is true, then I don’t want to wait. I’ll run into the electrified barbed wire. That would be easier than a slow death in flames.” Basically he could pray because of all of what he was seeing he was just in pure shock.

Even though, they’re stuck in a crazy, horrible place.
