It is something to be able to paint a particular picture, or to carve a statue, and so to make a few objects beautiful; but it is far more glorious to carve and paint the very atmosphere and medium through which we look, which morally we can do. To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts."

This quote illuminates an individuals endeavor to conquer the day, to go beyond the minimal requirements and truly effect life in a way that is honest to their soul.

"The stars awaken a certain reverence, because though always present, they are inaccessible; but all natural objects make a kindred impression, when the mind is open to their influence. Nature never wears a mean appearance. Neither does the wisest man extort her secret, and lose his curiosity by finding out all her perfection. Nature never became a toy to a wise spirit. The flowers, the animals, the mountains, reflected the wisdom of his best hour, as much as they had delighted the simplicity of his childhood."

Nature is a solace for us human beings, and with its great qualities of soothing it can supply a man's intelligence and wisdom.

The poem illustrates the need to sate one's own curiosity and fully explore their limits. To try, to fail, to endeavor, and to put effort into something that can provoke change or effect into the world. Life is long and full of opportunities but not guaranteed which is why one should strive with great purpose. In a world full that is always industrially improving with societal pressures and standards becoming more unrealistic as the days go by, it becomes harder to seek one's own true purpose. However, that same struggle should be enough to stand out in a black and white world.

My verse will be a piece of literature, with words strong enough to tug on the strings of people alone and urge them to make something of themselves. My verse will be so profound, so full of life and yet still able to highlight struggles utilizing my words to empower women to embrace the opportunities they did not relish in before moving. My words will carry victory, vigor, and hope to those women in need. A book, with relations to seek one's true self, and inspire others to do the same, to seek greatness in a world that dulls creativity.

How will you contribute to the world?

I will contribute to the world by ensuring that women do not conform to what they simply believe their role is. I will contribute to the world by changing the hearts of many, whether in pity or anger, to speak up against the violence and silencing of women. As a society, women have fought so strongly for rights, to be able to have a choice, but then to have those in greedy power take it away again. Sisters around the world such as Afghanistan, who have even the simplest right of education taken away, I will contribute to the world by making sure their cries are heard with my powerful sonorous words.

Thesis: Transcendentalist ideas such as nature, self-reliance, and individualism would positively impact personal development, social responsibility, and environmental consciousness; however today's society disregards the beliefs of transcendentalism and focus on unattainable, forced expectations instead.

Quote: "But, to speak practically and as a citizen, unlike those who call themselves no-government men, I ask for, not at once no government, but at once a better government. Let every man make known what kind of government would command his respect, and that will be one step toward obtaining it.”

Caption: The visual includes a little girl, adorned in a bright right with flowers in her hand as she presents herself to men of court. The men of court represent society, as they gaze and judge the girl, questioning whatever her purpose may be. The girl's head is tilted down, gazing at the floor, symbolizing a sulking and shameful reaction. The young girl represents those with wild passions and dreams, who are drained of their color and forced to keep their heads down from society's scornful eye.
