3 Ideas I took from Adichie's TED Talk are:

1. Stereotypes or single stories can hurt more than just the person they are directed toward.

2. Adichie recognizes that even educated people can stereotype a person or culture, but it's important to recognize when it happens so you can make changes about how you view the world.

3. People who are given a single story are robbed of their dignity and potential.

1. Seeing or hearing one thing about someone does not cover the entire subject matter.
2. People tend to stereotype just because they heard where they are from, or one thing about them. Then that person perceives the other as what they have seen or heard.
3. Once someone has created this idea of someone in their head it creates a negative connotation of the person, and it can be passed along people.

- Single stories are very hurtful when someone is getting targeted at as being known in that stereotype.
- Adichie communicates the fact that stereotypes almost always aren't who they are. You could be a jock or a nerd at school, but that's who you show not what you tell. You could be a great straight A student at school, but at home you might be going through problems. Family problems.
- People who are given this stereotypes are in danger of being called who they aren't. Being a bully doesn't mean that they aren't hurting on the inside.
