Charley is also going to a hospital to do tests, and the doctors there are going to do an operation on Charley to make him more intelligent. Wile all of this is happening hes trying to beet his biggest a mouse (Algernon) in a maze. After Charley has the operation, his intelligence starts to increase and he can beet Algernon in the maze. Charley's intelligence rises so fast he starts to be more intelligent then the doctors.
