My favorite book is holes by Louis Sachar. It’s my favorite book because it’s got a unique theme to it that I haven’t seen be used before where a young kid gets sent to the middle of a dried up lake where they have to work as a result of their crimes. I also enjoyed this book because it has 2 stories in it going on at the same time, one that is set in the past and one that is following the life of the kid and how his actions reflect on what happened in the past
Killian, 5th year

My favourite book is " Of mice and men " by John Steinbeck. I really like this book because it was very descriptive and it had very good chracters. One of the biggest themes in this book is friendship. I like the way Steinback went into detail of life back then. This really show how people with a problem "disability" where treated we see this when lennie gets picked on by the other wranch workers. Lennie's friend George helps him along and looks after him .This is why friendship is a big theme in this book.
Adam , 5th year.

My favourite book is ‘All The Bright Places’ by Jennifer Niven. The story is about a girl who learns to live after her sisters death from a boy, as his own world is falling apart, wants to die. The story follows their love story as they not only fall in love with each other, but in love with the world and their little hometown of Bartlett, Indiana. The book is written from both Violet and Finch’s point of view, as the chapters alternate between the pair. This book is heart warming, funny and heart breaking all at once.
Ella-Rose 5th year

My favourite book is “Shutter Island” by Dennis Lehane. The novel follows a US Marshal named Teddy Daniels, who comes to Shutter Island, which is home to Ashecliffe Hospital for the Criminally Insane. Teddy comes to the island to find a missing patient, as his investigation continues he discovers that everything on the island is not as it seems. I only finished this book recently and I have to say I enjoyed every second of reading it. The story kept me intrigued throughout and the pace of storytelling was excellent. Overall I enjoyed this book because the plot is truly thought provoking.
Katie, 5th year

My favorite book is "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury. It tells the story of a parallel universe where books are banned and possessing, let alone reading them, is forbidden. The protagonist, Montag, is a fireman responsible for destroying what remains. Curiosity gets the better of him, he slowly starts to make contrabands of the things he is destroying. By reading them he gradually begins to question his work and the society he is living in. I liked the book because it has an unique idea which looks in to the future of technology and how it may become our world. As technology evolves so does mindless entertainment and short attention spans. Sergiu, 5th year

My favorite book is “Turtles All the Way Down” by John Green. This book tells the story of Aza Holmes, a 16 year old girl living in Indianapolis who attempts to solve the mystery of a fugitive billionaire while struggling with severe anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder. I liked the sense of realism from this book. It explores the way mental illness affects daily life. Green himself has struggled with mental illness, he thinks this topic should be discussed openly. He did an outstanding job of shining the light on mental illness through his book.
Laura, 5th Year.

my favourite book is probably 'Good Omens' by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett, the book is a satirical comedy about an angel and a demon who try to prevent the young anti-Christ from starting the Apocalypse and destroying the world they have both come to enjoy, the books humour and characters are what makes the book enjoyable for me and the humour and tone is just fun and doesn't try to pretend its anything its not , you can tell just from the pages that they had as much fun writing the story as the person reading it, the book has been adapted into a radio drama and an amazon prime t.v series, I would recommend the book to anyone who is new to reading or is just looking for something enjoyable to pass their time, believe me you are not likely to be disappointed.
