The submission deadline for Elementary Writing Without Walls is Monday, November 13, 2017. This is your opportunity to submit pieces that represent the best work your students do.

Please submit entries using the following procedures:

-All entries must be the original work of a student, a group of students, or a staff member.

-Entries may be poetry or prose and no more than 250 words in length.

-All entries must be carefully edited, typed in Microsoft Word format (PLEASE, NO TEXT BOXES or CLIP ART-Text boxes make it difficult for Deborah to move pieces around as she is preparing the document for printing). Submit entries as an e-mail attachment to deborah.harmon@boiseschools.org

-Entries must include first and last name of student, school, grade, and the first and last name of the teacher (see example below).

-Only five (5) entries per teacher (one per student), per class will be allowed for publication. It greatly helps the quality of the publication if the poems or essays are not all the same.

-Copy changes and pieces modeled after a particular structure (“House is a House” poem, for example) will be accepted. Please acknowledge the original author.

There will be no specific theme for the Elementary Edition of Writing Without Walls.
All entries will be carefully read. Unedited pieces will not be considered for publication. Submission does not guarantee publication. We will do our best to have the publication back in the buildings by Christmas however, this is not guaranteed.

Each submission must be labeled in the electronic file as follows:

Elementary School Name
First and Last Name of Teacher

Dear Elementary Art Enthusiasts,
Happy Fall, Happy Halloween!  Now--on to the 2017 Boise School District Winter Card Contest!  Believe it or not, it is time to imagine snowmen, mittens, Christmas trees, and crackling fireplaces!  We are again teaming up with St. Alphonsus' Festival of Trees to bring you the annual Winter Holiday Card art contest!  The winning entry will be used on the district's holiday greeting card which is sent out to friends and employees of the Boise School District.  The winning artist will receive printed copies of the card, a gift card to Quality Art and a pass to the Festival of Trees.  The top 100 winners will receive Quality Art gift cards and a free pass to the Festival of Trees!

We're hoping to display over 1000 cards at the Festival of Tress so please encourage your student artists to enter.  Snowmen, Christmas trees, stars, stockings penguins--we love them all!  Every single card entered in the contest will be on display at the Festival of Trees for parents and students to admire!  Cards are due at the Art Cottage by Friday, November 10.  I am attaching an entry form for your convenience.  The form is also on the district website--and we have already received over 100 entries!

We're looking forward to seeing winter and the holiday season through the eyes of your students!
