I could not believe my eyes when I saw the pumpkin man walking down the street. A seven foot tall man with nothing but a stick-like body and a pumpkin head. He was built oddly- but just oddly enough to make you stone cold and still, in place.

He was rotting and whenever he was near, you could smell him. His name was Le Potiron (Le poe-tee-ron). He's a mysterious man that appeared around 12 years ago...I was born 12 years ago. Sometimes I feel like he's looking for me...lurking in the shadows, waiting to snatch and devour me for brunch. Everyone says "Zeleara, stop being paranoid!", but how can I? He came out of nowhere around the time I was brought into this world and ever since, I've always felt this cold, steady breathing down my neck. Well, all of that said, today I'm going to follow him. I'm going to follow a seven foot tall pumpkin man...I really am crazy aren't I?

Anyways, I grabbed my backpack and put my good sneakers on- y'know, in case I need to start running? I also quietly snuck out my window because it was nighttime and my parents were asleep. It was 12 AM on October 30th, and just 24 hours away from my thirteenth birthday....and the thirteen year anniversary of Le Potiron. I know, I know. I should have mentioned that I was born on Halloween but, then you would have thought the correlation here was just a coincidence, and it's NOT. Back to the crazy thing I was doing, I was trailing Le Potiron- and I swear he's way taller than I thought. He hummed while walking, and with every streetlight we passed, his tunes would become even more eerie and frightening. Eventually, some time around 20 minutes later....I heard my name.

"Zeleara, are you following me Zeleara?"

I have never been so scared in my life. My heart stopped, it got colder, and I promise you, I turned blue. How could this monster thing know MY name??? My only thought was that "I need to get out of here, and I need to get out of here now".

I turned around, ready to run...but I stood there way too long. He grabbed me by my waist and when I went to scream, he muffled my cries for help.

"Now, now, settle Zeleara. Why are you following me?"

I was scared, but I'm braver than everyone thinks. "Why did you appear out of thin air the day I was born, and how do you know my name??"

He carressed my face with his long, pointy fingers and smiled creepily.
"Why are you so nosy? Hmm? Zeleara, why would you follow me knowing that I eat children for dinner? I can kill you. Here. On this cold and chilly night. All I have to do is poke your little heart out and eat it like a lollipop treat."

I was frozen in fear but I was able to speak.
"You need to let me go right now or I'll...I'll-"

He cut me off.
"Or you'll what? You'll hurt me?"
He laughed like a maniac in my face before he whispered in my ear.
"Oh Zeleara, don't you know? Your parents made a deal with your soul. You and I? We're bound together, for as long as you live, and til the day that you will die- I will be here, waiting and breathing down your neck. You're not crazy Zeleara, but your soul? Is mine.

There was no way this was happening right...right? He's crazy, we aren't bonded together- I know that we aren't...at least I think I know that we aren't....
"You're crazy. You don't know me. You don't know ANYTHING ABOUT ME! YOU AREN'T REAL!"

"Zeleara."

"YOU AREN'T REAL!"

"Zeleara!

"YOU AREN'T REAL!

"ZELEARA!

I finally woke up to my mom yelling and my dad restraining me. I had been strangling my cat...and Le Potiron...he was out there.

I killed my cat because I thought I was killing Le Potiron.

And now that I think about it, I finally remember what he was humming. He was humming “Happy Birthday Zeleara”.

"It was the day before Halloween! My most favorite holiday ever!" screamed Nia. Nia thought about all the candy she might get and all the funny faces she would get to carve on the pumpkins. Nia and her father had already went to the pumpkin patch and got pumpkins to carve for the evening. Nia couldn't wait to carve her pumpkin so she dove right in, as she was carving she noticed something bright green in the pumpkin but she thought nothing of it. When the clock struck twelve o'clock the father took the pumpkins outside on the porch as Nia went to the bathroom. When Nia came out the bathroom she realized her father has yet to return from outside, as she walks toward the door to go outside, she noticed her carved pumpkin on the kitchen counter that her father was supposed to take outside. She walked up to it, and has she was walking the bright green spot on the pumpkin started to glow then the pumpkin came to life and whispered to Nia "Look out the front door" Nia ran out the front door terrified, then she immediately froze. She looked down to see her dead father's body at her feet without a head. Nia filling up with so many emotions starts to look up to see her father's head on what seemed to be a stick next to a sign that read " HAPPY HALLOWEEN".

Once upon a time, there were three little pumpkins sitting in a pumpkin patch...

There was a pumpkin that had potential to become the biggest pumpkin the world had ever seen. But it was going to take some time before it became the biggest pumpkin. The person taking care of this pumpkin was named Sam. Sam was a nice person but he wanted something more than a farmer. After Sam’s dad died the farm went to him and he was given the task of looking over the farm and carrying on the legacy of winning town fair for the biggest fattest juicy plump pumpkin. The fair was months away so Sam had plenty of time to prepare but he was worried he wouldn’t be able to fill his father’s shoes. He wanted to make him proud and Sam was determined to do it even though farming wasn’t his passion he wanted to wind or his father. Sam’s pumpkin was not the biggest thing in the world to say the least but it was a pretty decent sized one and he was proud of it. But Sam thought to himself “what can I do to make this pumpkin grow faster?” while Sam pondered he began to walk back and forth wondering what he was going to do with my pumpkin. He turned in for the night and as he was about to head to sleep, and then he heard something he didn’t know what it was but he heard something. When he got up he awoke to his small pumpkin being twice the size it was yesterday. I was as if it happened overnight Sam was confused and he said to himself “What happened last night?”

Sam stood there astonished and shocked about what he just saw. He actually believed that he had a shot at winning the town fair contest. Sam wondered what could have happened to the pumpkin while he was sleeping but he didn’t think about it much because he wanted to remain optimistic. Sam still tended the pumpkin for several weeks but there hadn’t been a drastic change like when it doubled in size overnight. Same became worried and began to second guess himself and his abilities to win the town fair. The night before the big day Sam couldn’t sleep. He was too anxious to fall asleep and it seemed like nothing was going to help him fall asleep. He tried counting sheep, drinking warm milk and nothing seemed to be working. Eventually he tired himself out by worrying so much and when he eventually fell asleep he heard something just like the night when the pumpkin grew twice its size. He was happy to hear that but he was going to wait till the morning to see how much it grew. Early the next morning he jumped out of bed ecstatic to see how much the pumpkin grew to his surprise it looked exactly the same. He was not only upset he was very disappointed Sam yelled “AHHHHHH!” out of rage and then the ground began to shake. Sam thought to himself “W-ww-what did I just do?” right before his eyes the pumpkin began to grow and it wouldn’t stop growing. It was unbelievable, Sam could believe what was going on so out of sheer disbelief he ran away screaming out of fear of being crushed by the giant pumpkin. The two pumpkins that were beside the pumpkin that was growing at a rapid rate were crushed.

At this point the pumpkin had stopped growing and now came the problem of how Sam was going to get the pumpkin to the fair before they close now that his is a giant pumpkin to transport. It just so happens that Sam’s friend Lydia had a crane so Sam call’s Lydia and asks her “ Hey! Lydia, can you come to the farm? We have a big problem.” Lydia replies “Yeah sure I'm on my way.” As Sam is waiting he is wondering if this is really going on so decided to approach the pumpkin even though something was telling him not to. He touched the pumpkin and it is like any other pumpkin just 16 feet tall. When Lydia came to help Sam she was flabbergasted. She stood there staring in awe. Lydia said “s-s-Sam WHAT IS THIS” Sam says “ I can explain.”

Luckily Lydia brought her crane so that can transport the giant pumpkin to the fair before It closes. The plan was to attach the pumpkin to the crane and drive it there. But while Lydia and Sam were loading the pumpkin on the crane it rolled off and started heading towards the town. It just so happens that Sam lived on the top of a hill and the town was at the bottom so that had a big problem on their hands. As Lydia speeded down the hill in her crane Sam thought of a plan to catch the runaway pumpkin time was not on their side and Lydia ahd to go 90 mph to get there before the pumpkin. She had to whip her crane so the hook and get on the pumpkin and throw it off it’s course. All that to say they took the pumpkin to the fair in more than one piece. Needless to say Sam won the contest and went home full of content He finally knew he made his father proud.

How I Turned Into a Vegetable!

Wassup my name is Traevon and my life as a kid is pretty good I can go and do whatever I want. But this was a strange day. First I woke up and realized that I had missed the bus. But luckily when I searched up my school on Google Maps it wasn't far.

I hopped onto my bike and started pedaling for school. As I was heading to school my friend Kyle was pedaling a couple feet behind calling my name, "Trevon!", "Trevon!", "Trevon" I turned around and hit the brakes on my bike to wait for him to catch up. He pedaled behind me and told me that he had missed the bus as well. As we realized that the time was going down on our GPS we decided to take some "unusual" shortcuts to say the most. We traveled down this weird road, there were run down buildings, one of them were "Jerry's Rat Bait", and "Gertrude's Pumpkins". We made it to school just before the bell rang "DING!", "DING!" "DING!" but we were late to class. As we got into the class the teacher yelled "Your late!". After getting settled into class the teacher slammed a test in front of me and hissed at me "I got my eye on you Traevon!". As a black man and having a white teacher I seriously think she as something against me. I barely finished my test because I forgot to study for it, and because I could only write my name on the test. While trying to figure out what Kyle and I are going to do after school I looked up and saw my teachers small black eyes staring into my brain. After enduring my teacher I headed out the door for home, I met Kyle outside and decided to take the route that we first took to get to school.

While going down the road we decided to check out Gertrude's Pumpkins... The first think I want to tell you guys is that this place was weird as HECK the first thing that happen was the building it's like it knew we were here as we walked in the door slammed behind us and the gloomy orange light shined when we entered the building. We then heard weird voices whispering "Welcome home Traevon and Kyle", Kyle replied "this has to be a joke" as we walked in some more we saw this box of pumpkin flavored jelly beans, and us being kids took the box of jelly beans.

We got out their as fast as Usain Bolt, to be honest I think I broke his world record. Kyle cried " I WANT TO ACHIEVE 360 WAVES BEFORE I DIEEE!" and we ran out like scurrying rats. Once we made it out the building something peculiar happened there was a strange orange light coming from my bag, but it was actually coming from the box. We heard voices whispering and hissing "eat us"... "eat ussss" and we could not resist the temptation of eating them so we ate them. I felt this weird tingly sensation, I saw a jack-o-lantern smiling and everything went black...

When I woke up I was closer to the ground and there was a small round shadow in front of me and some weird stick coming from the top of my head. I tried to move but I couldn't I saw a smaller pumpkin laying on its side next to me and the gloomy white moon shining on it. A teenage girl was walking by with her airpods in I tried to speak but there was no sound I panicked and realized I was turned into a pumpkin. Me and the other pumpkin were picked up and taken to the teenage girls house she carved faces onto us, put candles on the inside of us, and placed us on her front porch. Knowing people in the area it didn't take us long to be taken from her porch and thrown in the back of someone's car. While on the ride to the unknown destination I was able to talk and the other pumpkin I figured since I was able to talk the other pumpkin was able to also so I whispered "psst"..."psst" the pumpkin was able to respond with "Who is it", I replied with "My name is Traevon and I am not an actual pumpkin" The Pumpkin exclaimed "Traevon it's you! I thought you died" I then realized that it was Kyle that was the other pumpkin. I explained to Kyle the situation that we were in and how we needed to find a way out of this. "Maybe it was those jelly beans that we ate" Kyle explained "but we don't have the box of jelly beans" I exclaimed. Suddenly after hitting a speed bump the trunk opened up we flew out the trunk of the car we ended up on the side of the interstate highway, cars going left and right "VROOM" here "VROOM" there we almost rolled to our execution. After ending up on the side of the highway birds started flying around us. Kyle shouted "IT'S AN EARLY THANKSGIVING!". After trying to fight off the birds with our carved mouths, another group of people were able to give us a carpool back to our school. We were placed in our classroom and were left on two seats under a spotlight, and guess who walked out from the shadows... my teacher. She walked out from the shadows with pale white skin, small black eyes and oily black hair, she told us in a high and frail voice "I told you I had my eye on you" shaking the orange box of jelly beans in her hand. I asked "who are you?" she replied with "I am Gertrude, and you two knuckleheads ate one of my jellybeans". Kyle asked "how can we be changed back?" Gertrude replied "You have to eat these blue jellybean's before the clock strikes twelve". I looked at the clock above and realized that it was 11:50. I told Gertrude that is 11:50. Gertrude asked us one simple question " What was on your test this morning?" Kyle replied "That's an easy question, ummm I don't remember". I replied "nothing", "there was nothing on test". Gertrude congratulated us and gave us the beans to turn back into humans.

I was surprised when I cut open my pumpkin and found it was full of needles. Shocked, I called the pumpkin patch dispatch number to file a complaint. The phone rung, and rung some more until finally someone answered. "Hello? Yes hi, i'm calling to complain about you guys pumpkins. I was sold an extremely dangerous--". I paused realizing nobody had spoken on the other side of the phone. Listening closer, I could hear breathing. I quickly hung up. "This is completely unprofessional, I'm going to head there myself."
                  Current Time: 9:13 10/31

"It's so dark and cold out here" I say as i'm driving down 218. There are very few cars the further I go. I finally reach what I assumed to be Mintys Patch of Pumpkins. There were no stands, no light, no pumpkins, no anything. I was sure this was the right location too, it had only been a week since I had last been here. I step out of my car looking for some type of help. There is fog everywhere, all I could here is the eerie calls of the night time crows. I'm in the middle of a corn field. "This place looks..different" i whisper to myself. After some time looking around, I stumble across a singular pumpkin on the ground. I pick it up out of curiosity. "what the..EW gross!" I exclaim as I drop the pumpkin wiping my hands on my sweater. I look down to see red liquid on my hands. The pumpkin is overturned and I see " GO" written in what seems to be blood. Worried, I sprint back to my car. The door is locked. I frantically try to call my husband to tell him the situation. But before I could even push the dial button, I feel a sharp pain in my back. I scream out in pain to turn and see a figure in a white mask with a painted smile. There is one eye hole, I can visibly see his dilated eyes looking down at me. I try my best to get away, but he lets out a quick laugh before slowly pulling out another large kitchen knife. Never releasing his gaze from me, I try to scramble away. He dashes towards me and I scream, knowing what's about to happen. And just like that, it's over.

The End.

I was surprised when I cut open my pumpkin and found it was full of rolls of paper. I was so confused because I took this tiny pumpkin in front of Walmart under a sign that was labeled, "free pumpkins". When I had saw the sign, there was only one remaining and I thought it was my lucky day. I needed a pumpkin for my plan to make it into a jack o' lantern as decoration for my bedroom. Originally, I was going to get the pumpkins and make the jack o’ lanterns with my friends for my birthday today, but they haven’t replied to any of my messages, which I find odd. I don’t know if I should be more hurt or worried. Back to my story. The rolls of paper were blank except for one. That one roll of paper was labeled, "1". I then became intrigued, yet still so confused. I didn't think there would be anything inside other than pumpkin guts. I opened the roll of paper and inside it, it said, “If you want your friends back, head back to where you found this pumpkin”. I know I should be more skeptical about the message, but I was so worried that I sprinted back to Walmart. As soon as I got to Walmart, I tried to find the sign that was labeled, “free pumpkins”. The sign was gone, but was replaced with a roll of paper that was taped to the wall. It was labeled “2”. Inside it said, “I see you’re concerned about your friends. Go behind the building where the trash bins should be found.” I had a thought that maybe my friends were trapped inside the trash bins so I sprinted again. There I was, out of breath, anxious to find my friends. There were no trash bins when I got there. I didn’t know what to do and started panicking. An employee then passed by me carrying a trash bag around and I saw a roll of paper labeled, “3” on it. I yelled “Wait!” and headed towards the employee. Naturally, a normal person would stop to see why someone would yell, “Wait!”. Not this one though. The employee ran away from me. I had to chase her and yell “Wait!” another 3 times. For some reason, the employee was headed towards the woods that was behind Walmart. I then tripped on a stick and had saw that the employee went left. I picked myself up and I turned left and there I had saw the trash bag. The trash bag was just left on the ground with the roll of paper labeled, “3” with the employee nowhere to be seen. I thought that this was a weird and dangerous way to spend my birthday. I opened the roll and it said, “You’ve lost your way out of the woods. Not to worry, you should be able to find your friends if you scan this barcode.” I took my cellphone out of my pocket and was relieved it still had some battery left and wasn’t damaged from my fall. When I scanned the barcode using the camera app, it opened up a map to locate my friends. I had no reception so I couldn’t call for help. I followed the map and it only led me deeper in the woods. Eventually, I ended up finding a pathway that led to what looks like an abandoned mansion. I was honestly terrified and didn’t know what to expect. The door seemed to be slightly open, so I went inside hesitantly. It was so dark and I said aloud, “Whoever you are, return my friends back right now or I’ll call the cops.” knowing well enough I had no reception. The lights then turned on and next thing I know, I heard, “SURPRISE!” with confetti all around me. It took me a while to process what even happened. All I know is that I was in front of my two ALIVE and WELL friends with cake along with three tiny pumpkins on a table in between them. I was so mad, but so relieved that they were safe. Afterwards, we chilled at the mansion eating cake and made the pumpkins into jack o’ lanterns. We then made our way back to my house for a sleepover safe and sound. Even though I was so anxious throughout the day, I’d say it was by far, the best birthday I ever had.

When I entered the pumpkin carving contest, I found a pumpkin that looked just like mine. Its eyes rigidly cut into triangles with replicated hesitation, mouth wide as ever, and angry eyebrows. “Is it possible that someone could have the same pumpkin as I?” - I thought to myself. In disbelief, I approach the pumpkin to further analyze its shape. Even the sprout of the pumpkins lean in the same direction, details down to a dent on the bottom right of the pumpkin. “Someone must’ve copied my pumpkin” I think to myself. I began scanning the crowd for anyone who seemed to have entered the contest. After looking all over, I find that this occurrence must be a coincidence, I continue on with the contest, but decide to pick up the other pumpkin and cast it aside. Though trying to believe someone wasn’t setting me up, the mere presence of a similar pumpkin creates competition and uncertainty. Minutes later, I found the pumpkin sitting in the same place, except it was now accompanied by its owner. My eyes widen and I begin to tumble as the person's costume and face resembles mine. I walk up to him and say, “Excuse me, is this your pumpkin?” He responds with a shocking look in his eyes, almost as if he too recognizes the similarities we share. He cannot build up the courage to utter a single word. “Could it be that I’ve just discovered my twin brother?” I say to myself. However, as we proceeded to exchange looks, a redness in his eyes became apparent. He started moving toward me and getting aggressive. He picks up his pumpkin, places it on his head, and for the first time I realize that he is no twin of mine. He is an enemy, I run but cannot move fast enough to escape him. He reaches for my legs and pulls me into the light. He whispers, “You will regret what you’ve done.” I look at him fearfully and ask, “And what is that? How have I wronged you?” He replies, “Only fools touch the prized pumpkin and only the strongest survive there after.”

To be continued.

Gather around, as this tale happened right beneath our feet in this very same pumpkin patch field.

Once upon a time, long ago was the farmer whose days were getting shorter and shorter, living in this farm. Daily the man goes around the field looking around if anything was eating his crops, but days after days there was nothing out of the ordinary. Until that one day when he was harvesting the crops and a small pumpkin suddenly appeared on the feat of the scarecrow in the field. It was about to hit night fall so he calls it a day and decides to look at it tomorrow. But what he doesn't know is what the pumpkin truly was. The sun rose and so did he, remembering that there was a pumpkin out there under the scarecrow, though he knew he doesn't plant any pumpkins. Once he gets there but he doesn't see any pumpkin in sight, rubbing his eyes in disbelief, he thought to himself "I was probably just imagining things, it was getting late yesterday after all" but once he opened his eyes there was the pumpkin sitting right in front of him, but this time it was larger 4x larger even. In shock he stumbles back and falls down, "HOW... HOW CAN I MISS SUCH A LARGE THING," After some time processing this thing in front of him he gets up, curious if it was real or not he puts out his hand, slowly creping up on it, slowly making his way and looking around. Suddenly breaking out in cold sweat, he felt as if there was something wrong something but decides to touch the pumpkin....

BAMMM

Something grabs him by the wrist and pulls him into the pumpkin without a trace, not even his scream escaped. Inside the pumpkin he suddenly feels like he's drowning flailing around, eyes closed, "Why, why me, is it my time already" he wondered. Then he hears a low and ominous voice speak to him

????
"Open your eyes human, your time is not yet over, breath"

Slowly opening his eyes he sees a dark caped figure with skeleton hands, a jack o lantern head and a scythe in his hand. "Who...who are you? NO, WHAT are you?" the old man speaks out.

????
"I am the embodiment of the night of terror, and what you humans think of in the day of screams you call Halloween..."

Old man
"Dracula? But you don't seem like a vampire" The old man says before the Jack o Lantern head finishes his sentence.

????
"NO YOU FOOLISH HUMAN, I AM THE SPIRIT OF HALLOWEEN" The figure speaks out in anger. "AND YOU WILL BE MY VESSEL FOR TOMORROW, AND IF YOU DARE SPEAK OF THIS YOU WILL PAY WITH YOUR SOUL, NOW BEGONE"

As the Spirit of Halloween explained that with every full moon on Halloween, his powers are just enough to come out and possess someone for his vessel. The old man flung out of the pumpkin hitting his head falling unconscious. He later wakes up realizing that the sun is rising and the spirit of Halloween will take over his body. He runs in and barricades himself within his house so he might not be able to get out, but hours later he was still sane and himself. 4pm hit and realizing that though today is Halloween, it doesn't truly begin until 6pm. Slowly the clock ticks, slowly the hands of the clock nearing 6pm the old man fearful of what is to come. Right before 6, The Spirit of Halloween bursts in front of the old man and tells him, "Time is up, its my turn." As the Spirit lowers his scythe to his head. . . SWOOSH the old man flying out of his body like a ghost, and the Spirit of Halloween flying in, the old mans physical body suddenly changes his head turning into a pumpkin and his eyes bursting with orange and yellow flames. The Spirit flying out the house, the old man follows and shocked to see what has already taken place in just minuets time. Over the full moon, monsters overrunning the city eating the children and killing everyone. The Spirit laughs and turns to the old man. . .

Spirit of Halloween
"The true Halloween has yet to begin HAHAHAHAHAHA"

Till this day some people still hear the nightly terrors of what happens in a full moon on Halloween. That you can see the ghost of the old man over the full moon next to the Spirit itself, but be wary to not stare at them for too long or else you might be their next. . . snack.

Once upon a time, there were 3 little pumpkins sitting in a pumpkin patch. One was a beautiful, bright orange color. The second pumpkin was a darker color orange. The third pumpkin looked different from the rest. It had white spots all over it , and it's stem was white too. This one specific pumpkin was always thrown to the back of the bunch, never chosen, never claimed. Everyone's first assumption was that it was rotten or something like that. One special day, a mother and daughter came to the pumpkin patch looking for the "perfect pumpkin". The daughter had gone all around the patch looking for something that sparked her interests. Her mother pointed out all types of pumpkins. The biggest of the biggest and the smallest of the smallest, but nothing caught her eye. About 3 hours in of searching, she came across the pumpkin with white spots all over it. It took her breath away. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. She then took the pumpkin home. "Its to beautiful, I don't even want to carve it" she said. What everyone saw as ugly or abnormal , she saw as beauty. Happy Halloween :)

I was sound asleep until I opened my eyes and realized I couldn't move. ¨Oh it's just sleep paralysis again, oh well.¨ This sleep paralysis was different. All the times I had sleep paralysis it was just the inability to move, but I noticed I had a little company. It was a sleep paralysis demon. I could not believe my eyes when I saw a pumpkin headed figure staring at me across my room. It was just standing there, looking creepy and strange but suddenly tilted its head. And slowly walked towards me. I couldnt believe what was happening to me. I wasnt sure if I should be terrified or confused at the fact that a pumpkin headed figure is walking towards me. It then reached its disgusting, slimey and sticky I guess ¨hand¨, it didnt look like a hand, more like a broken tree branch, to my face covered my mouth. I couldnt breathe. ¨There is no way in hell I am being suffocated by this pumpkin headed figure¨ I said to myself. I then remembered that a way to stop sleep paralysis is to slowly move your toes and work your way up to your head. So I did exactly that, still being suffocated by the pumpkin figure and in complete terror in the inside. But I finally got back to my senses and out of my sleep paralysis. ¨Well that was possibly one of the most interesting, terrifying, and confusing experiences of my lifetime¨ I told myself as I went back to sleep. Fast forward to the morning, I wake up and there are three pumpkin headed figures watching over me. ¨Oh gosh, there is no way in hell this is happening all over again¨ and I pull the covers over me.

The end.

I remember waking up to go to the bathroom one night. I had no idea what time it was, but once I looked in the mirror, I nearly screamed, “WHAT THE HELL?!” my skin was orange. I’m not even kidding. It was orange. How in the world does someone's SKIN turn orange?! I didn't even have much time to process it. I began to notice myself getting shorter and shorter. The distance between me and my bathroom counter gradually got smaller until I could barely reach it. My arms were gone. So were my legs. I couldn’t even speak! At most, I could roll around, but that was it. I had no idea what to do. I couldn’t even get back into my room. I moved myself to the living room. I could hear my dog barking from the sudden noise. I don’t blame him. Anyone would be startled hearing something randomly clunking around. As far as I could go was the carpet, so that is where I spent the night.

When morning hit, I could hear everyone's confusion. “Where in the world did this pumpkin come from?” My mother exclaimed. I do understand her confusion, but then again hopefully I won’t get cooked. “We should cook it or something.” my sister insisted. Now I’m fine with being used as a decoration but I draw the line at being someone elses food. Before I knew it I was picked up and brought over to the countertop. If someone could scream I would. I wasn’t actually going to be cooked was I? Luckily no one pulled out any knives. I guess I was just moved here to keep out of the way. When would I even turn back? Would I turn back? All I could really do was sit on the counter. I watched everyone go about their day. Everyone left to hurry and get some last minute things for Halloween. It was just me alone in the room. As time past the clock struck noon and before I knew it I was me again. Was it an experience beinga pumpkin? Yes. Would I reccomend it? Of course not. I was almost cooked for crying out loud. I heard my family soon return home. “What happened to the pumpkin?” Questioned my sister. “Oh I cut into it and it was rotting from the inside out so I threw it away.” It was a lie but hey, who would believe you if you turned into a pumpkin?

“Get up you wretched thing!” she shouted. Spit splattered all over my face, “filthy.” I thought. “Take your food you ungrateful thing, you should be happy you’re even alive, you should be happy we’re even letting you live with us after what you’ve done.” She gritted through her teeth. I turned my head tired of hearing the same things over and over again. “Be ready to go out in your free time, I have some business to take care of.” she said, strutting away from me. I ate my sluggish meal for the day and got ready for the day ahead which I wasn’t really excited about. The floor creaked as I got up from the corner of my room, hurriedly changing myself to prepare myself for the cold weather. I step out of my room quickly and run out of the door before I get yelled at again. “I don’t need them, I don’t even know why they are keeping me here anyways.” I jogged towards the forest. “I might as well get rid of them soon.” I walked around the forest finding myself a bit lost but to soon find a plain full of pumpkins. “This will be fun,” I exclaimed. I tiptoed towards a dismorphed pumpkin that caught my eye, very uniquely shaped and easy to find. I swiftly took the weirdly shaped pumpkin noticing a man walking in my direction, not looking at me I scramble back to the forest, running a bit out of breath as I make it to my safe spot. I become exhausted deciding it might be best for me to take a prompt nap on the soft grass ground. STOP. I startle myself awake, I find myself shaking a bit from how chilly the weather got. I pondered about cutting up the pumpkin before going back since the sun was setting pretty fast. I take out the handy pocket knife I carry around for unknown purposes and start sawing through the warped pumpkin. While I am cutting I go a little too deep and hit something and hear a small clink, something hard, definitely not a seed, it couldn’t be. I try to cut faster but more precisely since I still want to use the pumpkin for decoration. I was surprised when I cut open the pumpkin and found it was full of bullets. I was stunned for a few seconds before I started digging inside to only find a gun. I giggle softly, "It finally came!"Knowing what I’ll use this firearm for, I slowly load up the gun and bring a few extra for the journey, I dig through the dirt to find my mask. Decorated beautifully inside my sturdy wooden box from my past victim, blood still smudged on the stitched skin on my mask. I smirk knowing it added touch to my work. I tie it on the back of my head with the cut up belt I took from him, It's a nice one too what a shame he won’t be getting it back anytime soon. I walk in the direction of the house already knowing my way there, I start laughing a bit loudly as I was a bit too excited for what I was imagining. I walk up the porch and slowly open the door, I walk over to the kitchen already knowing they were going to be there, “And where were you all day, I was getting dinner re-what do you have in your hand!”They hurriedly question me as I see the panic in their eyes I start to hysterically laugh, I couldn’t control myself as a raised my arm towards them. “No stop wait, I-what did we do to you for you to pull this stunt on us aye. Stop it before I-,””No, you stay quiet.” I interrupt them loudly. The click of the gun caused a chill go up my spine, I missed the feeling of having power over those that are weak. I sigh softly in rememberance, I shoot both of their legs, they immediately struggle and scream through their pain. Ahh, I love hearing them scream, music to my ears, mmm. I swiftly grab the knife that was conveniently placed on the kitchen table. “Off to work I go. mm mmmm mm, time to clean you up a bit.” I giggled out loud, “What a smooth face you have, I will put it to good use, lovely.”I grin as I shove a rag down their throat to keep them quiet. “Geez, you do love screaming do you, keep it up and let’s see if you’ll be conscious when I cut you up really good.''I harshly dared them whispering besides their heads. "You knew what was coming, but even so you still treated me like sh*t." I take their hair and wrap it around my hand dragging them to the basement as they wiggle around clawing at my muscled arm. “Well, I would love to hear your beautiful vocals all day but I have things to do and more faces to collect pretties.”I smile, “Time to make new masks.”

My pumpkin had two big happy diamond shaped eyes and a diamond shaped nose. He has a jagged tooth smile. Jack has sat on my porch all of october welcoming our visitors and us as we come and go. He now lives his last day watching children as they "only take one" pices of candy out of the bowl.

My pumpkin is moderate in size but it is a strong, vibrant orange. The color is like an exotic flower or what the sky looks like when the sun dips above the horizon; when it comes up to do it's duty, the color orange is there, all energetic to get you ready for the day. That's what the color of my pumpkin is like. At the very peak of the pumpkin is a small but thick pine green stem with light ridges. To put it lightly, my pumpkin is carved to look like a vampire. It has upturned but hooded eyes to strike fear every time you look at it. It's nose is shaped like a trapezoid where all the sides are the same size. It's mouth-the crown jewel of the pumpkin-is open in a hissing motion with large, sharp canines protruding from the top of its mouth and smaller canines coming from the bottom. I love my pumpkin it's pretty and it's impressive and when it's lit up, my pumpkin looks even better.
