Bowler hats were really common in 1850’s after they were invented in 1849 but it is unusual to see them now. Sometimes you can see members of the royal family wearing one. Bowler hats were usually worn as semi-formal attire. They were made for gamekeepers to protect their heads from low hanging branches. Later in the 1950's, businessmen wore bowler hats as part of their business uniform. Then, this fashion piece started to fade in the 70's.
