After a long 16 weeks, it is time to reflect on my learning process and how I've met each requirement of authority, writing processes, critical thinking, and reading as well as information literacy and rhetorical knowledge. Over the semester I have been able to deepen my understanding of each subject through in-class discussions, group work, assignments, and writing projects. I have been able to show cause of my knowledge and understanding through every topic and I have been able to obtain grades that represent what I have learned over this entire course. I have strengthened my skills with authorship throughout this course. I have a better understanding of authority through race class and power in relation to writing as well as outside of the classroom. I have taken learned experiences from readings and incorporated them into my works. As for my writing process, I have been able to create more efficient ways to outline my work such as using bubbles or mind maps to piece all my ideas together. We also work on assignments that make us synthesize our work and do research topics. I was able to collaborate everything that I learned into my writing process and it allowed for a smoother process when it came to large assignments, like writing projects one and two. Something that also helped me a lot throughout this course was critical reading and thinking, that's to the readings we were provided in class I was able to use them as sources of inspiration for my projects. They also forced me to find deeper meaning within reading and thinking. As for information literacy, I was able to integrate my sources and speak on everything that I learned. Although I struggled to read and annotate every single source I used throughout this course it allowed me to have better knowledge and understanding of topics. My rhetorical knowledge of many subjects expanded as well. I was able to understand how to use voice and tone and I was able to demonstrate my understanding of different genres and different arguments. Overall I improved in every skill from the beginning of the semester till the end.

A piece that affected my authority was the "Teachings of Grass'' by Robin Wall Kimmer. It was a very interesting reading and it taught me a lot about grass and indigenous medicine as well as not giving up. The work made me realize that just because history or science believes that things are the way they should be doesn't always mean that science and history are right. It allowed me to go into writing projects two and three with more of a social justice mindset and it allowed me to address maternal health in not just a scientific way but also in a humanitarian way. The reading taught me about culture, identity, and power. It is important to embrace one's culture and just because a different culture or race has more power than another doesn't mean your culture is any less important. My identity played a huge role in my writings for maternal health as I addressed birthing people and not just mothers. I believe not all birthing people are mothers and they do not identify as so. The teachings of grass helped me broaden my authority in the pieces I wrote over the semester.

The outline that I made for writing project three was one of the most important steps within my writing process for this project because I was able to receive thoughtful and helpful feedback from my professor and it helped me come up with ways to improve my work overall. My professor gave helpful advice in my outline that reflects in my final draft. I felt that my final draft was better because of the feedback I received. I also had multiple other experiences that significantly helped improve my final writing project, such as peer review. One of the most successful things I learned about giving feedback, was to make sure you are giving thoughtful yet critical feedback that could help support the author in some way. My experience with peer review from my classmates, as well as my professor, significantly helped me through these sixteen weeks.

Although I struggle with reading, I found myself enjoying it more in this course. For writing project two I had to read over twenty articles and book chapters, journals, and newsletters to find sources that best suited my topic for writing project three. Through writing project two I was able to find credible sources using the CRAAP test and they helped me tremendously in stirring project three. I had to read every source to gain a deeper understanding of many issues and obstacles that birthing people faced. I struggled to find articles on transgender or non-binary birthing people of color because they are very marginalized within society but with all the reading and critical thinking I did I found it easier to incorporate some of the experiences they had outside of birthing into my essay and I believe it worked well. Overall I believe I improved a significant amount with my reading and critical thinking skills.

Thanks to the work I did with writing project two I was able to incorporate all ten of my sources into writing project three through synthesis and using excerpts to represent quantitative and qualitative data. I used the CRAAP test to make sure all my sources were credible and I was able to cite them using Purdue oOwl which I heavily relied on for citations and APA formatting. I ran into a coupe issues when i was citing my sources by hand but thanks to Perdue Owl as well as the NSC library i was able to figure it out and besides that i didn't run into many problem for citing on and out of text.

One of the most important things I learned from this course is that prep work as well as reflection really does make a difference in your writing. Preparing for assignments helped me a lot I made sure to read, have prior knowledge, and create outlines before turning in my final works for this course. Reflecting was also very helpful for me throughout this course. In writing project one I was able to reflect on everything I did and didn't do and it helped me work on the things I needed to improve or the things I needed to continue doing. I was also able to use this reflection pallet as a way to look back at all the work I did this semester and how far I have come since then. One of the projects that dealt with rhetorical knowledge was writing project three. I dealt with positionality, target audiences, and purpose. If they were to have been written with different knowledge or positionality the conversation would have gone a lot differently. I wrote about how midwives are improving birthing outcomes for birthing people of color and my purpose was to educate and also make them aware o f the situation at hand. I believe that if it was written by someone who had a more conservative mindset the piece would have used different terminology such as “women'' or “mothers'' instead of birthing people. My purpose was to shed light on marginalized biting people of color and the suffering that they go through but the conversation would have been different if it was approached by someone with different social justice views than me.
