I was able to take a lot from this course. Firstly, of course, the use of the English language, which you do consistently over 10 days. This makes you more confident in speaking and shows once again that it's not a bad thing if you don't speak the language perfectly.

I learned a lot about the history of Guadeloupe and I think it is extremely important to look beyond your own historical horizon and realize how complex history is (also) in other countries and how important these facts are to better understand the people living here.

The structure and approach/structure of a possible project also became clear. Many examples were used to explain this clearly.

The diverse possibilities for carrying out a project were clearly demonstrated. It also became clear once again how important it is to know the local structures in order to identify meaningful project goals. I also think it is important to interact with local people.

The ability to learn through experience was there every day. Thanks to the different excursions and focuses, the focus was always on something new, be it the environment (ocean, rainforest) or the culture (music, history of slavery).

What I've taken from this course is a fresh approach to internationalisation and doing international work at school. I had always considered international work to be "just" different projects and had never approached it in such broad terms before. The survey of international work helped me put our school's international work into perspective and helped me analyse what we already do but also where we should proceed and how more different interest groups could be involved in the work. The course made me think about global citizenship and what I take from it are the global citizenship themes, skills and outlooks because they are central to writing projects. I can also see myself using the description of key competences to design activities that would develop students' competences as these descriptions help the teacher to think outside the box and include more general aspects into subject-specific activites. What is more, I learned a lot about a remote area of the EU and its complicated history and how this history still influences how people view life nowadays. Guadeloupe can't be described without mentioning its rich nature, flora and fauna, which left long-lasting impressions. I strongly believe that one cannot understand a culture and how the historical as well climate-related circumstances influence a country and its people without spending time there and interacting with the locals.
