         <title>Haitian Revolution</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The enslaved people of Haiti started the revolution back in 1791. By 1803, they ended slavery in Haiti, and the French control over the colony. Toussaint l’Overture led to abolish slavery and Jean-Jacques Dessalines led the revolutionaries at the Battle of Vertieres and defeated the French forces. The nation was declared independent by Dessalines in 1804 and was renamed to Haiti.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Argentine War of Independence</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The war was fought from 1810 to 1818 against royalist forces that were loyal to the Spanish crown. The leaders were Manuel Belgrano, Juan José Castelli, and José de San Martín. Argentine won and ended Spanish rule which meant slavery was partially abolished. In 1816 an assembly met in San Miguel de Tucumán to declare full independence and the coming of a constitution.</p>]]></description>

They fought against the Spanish empire for independence from 1811-1823. They won their independence after winning the battle of Carabobo in 1821.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The war lasted from 1822-1824, with the leaders during the war being Pedro I and Pedro II. The war was fought of both land and sea. The independence of Brazil was finally recognized in 2025. </p>]]></description>
