No matter what schedule I was signed in work from 7am start in the morning or 10:30pm start at night for overnight shift, skytrain is my major transportation to work, it takes me roughly 25 minutes from home. It takes me around 5min to the skytrain Royal Oak station, but the most convenience part at the Waterfront Skytrain Station is the underground exit is connecting with the Fairmont Waterfront staff entrance and if I go up one level to the ground floor I will be at the entrance of the conference center in waterfront. So I don't need to walk so long to work outside.

The attached picture is our bell service desk, where I stand and get the tasks from my supervisor and bell captain.

The schedule in daytime is pretty much the same thing to do except for the overnight shift. Most of my shift was from 10am to 6:30pm.

10:00am - 11:00pm
In the first hour in my shift is basically getting all my stuff set up such as radio, travel sheet(a sheet that record all the ativities that I did for a day), as well as tools like door stoper, whistle(to help the guest call the cab). Checking all the status of the hotel guest such as where the different hotel groups comes from, how many groups we have in a day and also the meeting groups for the horel conference and any social events, also the cruise ship guest as well. In order to better direct location to different ballroom and also a good conversation start.

11:00am to 2:00pm
I will be standing mostly of time in the lobby and hotel entrance area to greet the guest, directing location and answer question if guest needed, and waiting for all the task such as guest room check in or check out from supervisor then take the lugguge cart to the guest room with lugguge service.

2:00pm to 2:30pm
This 30 minutes is my lunch time of the day, there are so many options such as the hotel cafeteria, the food court in the concourse level(we have to take off the name tag when access the public area).

2:30pm to 5:00pm
In this two hours in the afternoon, I will keep staying position and it is usually the busy time in aday in summer, because of the Island Princess cruise ship departure and Rocky Mountaineer arrival sometimes other cruise or big group arrival. We either take a big truck to the cruise terminal to get the lugguges or the tour bus will carry them all to our hotel entrance.

What we do is to categarize all the lugguge by the guest name, the group or the flight. then use the hotel lugguge cart to storge them in the bell carbin storge room wait for the guest room ready, then we take them up to the guest room one by one. it always takes a long time a lot of works as there are hundrys of lugguge we have to deal with.

5:00pm to 5:30pm
this 30 minutes is the time I go to the hotel back office, where all the big guys(GM, Director, etc)located to collect all the postcall and mails, splite them from stamped and non-stamped, take all the non-stamped mail to the talent&culture department, and then take all the stamped mails cross the street to the Canada Place to put them into the mail box on the streer.

5:30pm to 6:00pm
The last 30 minutes of my shift is to hand in my travel sheet, correct from the royal service system to make sure all the information are correct and the room and tasks that I went and finished are correct. Then ask the supervisor for the preparation for the next day and during the training period,I usually ask for daily feedback after a few day in a row.
