Anyone who is familiar with the Assassin's Creed series knows how historical accurate these game can be. While many things were added to actually create a game, the weapons, locations and historical figures have some truth behind them. For a teacher who is interested in teaching about ancient Egypt, Assassins Creed Origins can be a useful learning tool. The creators added a "Discovery Tour" mode. This allows players to explore Egypt in a different light because the main story line is removed. The link below explains it in a bit more detail. A barrier in this now is how can I get PS4's/Xbox Ones with screens to have in a classroom?

With the 3 years I have had teaching, I have found that many schools do not have computer labs. Some schools carry classroom iPads, however, there is limited access to some Apps. Also, teaching such a young age, none of my students have access to phones. Is there a way this can be overcome?

Giving the short periods in some schools, maybe extending over several periods for a big project could help time management. Coming from a younger grade, doing projects is not just limited to short periods. However, how much time is too much time for some students and their gaming?

A barrier for me right now is not knowing what games to implement within my subject area (high school social studies). The Making History game from the article does look interesting though. I will have to look into it! Most games I've thought about only tangentially touch on the many curricular outcomes I have to get through. So perhaps the rigidity of the curriculum/available time would be the most difficult barrier to overcome.
