How and why would you utilize this assessment?
I would use this assessment for reading when reviewing over what happened in the chapters read. Start by having students take a few minutes to think about the reading. Then allow students to think and discuss what happened with their partner. Lastly ask the students to share their ideas with the class. I chose to use this assessment because it allows students to think critically and discuss different perspectives and interpretations of the reading. I would also use this assessment because it allows the teacher to walk around and observe and listen to the students. This allows the teacher to see which level of understanding each student has.

When is it appropriate? List the group of students the assessment is most appropriate with?
This would be appropriate for a reading assessment. This assessment would probably be best for assessing grades 2nd to 5th. Teachers can use this assessment to assess student's level of understanding of what they read. Teachers can also use to this assessment to assess student's comprehension skills. Comprehension skills and levels of understanding can be assessed in the think-pair-share model by listening to what students are discussing. Teachers can ask students questions about the chapters they read and have the students discuss the answer with their partner. Then the teacher can have the students share their answers with the class. Teachers can apply this to the think-pair-share model to assess comprehension skills.

Strengths and Limitations:
Think-Pair-Share allows students time to think through their answer. This assessment utilizes student's prior knowledge. It will also strengthen students oral communication skills. A limitation is that students may go off topic in their discussion.

APA Citation:
10 Innovative Formative Assessment Examples for Teachers to Know. (2018, December 04).
