Operating System: A computer program that acts as an intermediary between a user of a computer and the computer hardware

Goals:
1. Make solving problems easy
2. Make computer system convenient
3. Use computer hardware efficiently

Computer System Structure
1. User
2. Application
3. Operating System
4. User View
   - Single user computers
= Design for one user to monopolize the resources
   - Multi user computers
= Share resources and exchange information
   - Handheld computers
= Optimized for usability and battery life
   - Embedded computers
      = Run without user intervention

2.
